to the players he was handed by the previous regime. It is impossible to run a spread O with our current roster. Why not run a 2 TE I formation set this year? I think we could have hidden some of our talent issues and controlled the clock more effectively against more talented SEC teams. The passing game was never there for us so we should have adjusted to it. We should have used the TE more in the flat and in the middle of the field as well. I believe we could have come up with some simple 5-10 yard routes for our young wrs and qbs that could have been effective to move the chains in order to extend drives. Our defensive schemes are fine but the D never had a chance because our O screwed them with 3 and Os all game. I think Jones failed to adjust by implementing his system without even considering his current roster. Im still a fan of Jones but he set his team up for failure this year by not adjusting to their skill sets.

No offense can work if your OL can't block...and your QB can't throw without throwing it to the other team.

Introducing a new offensive or defensive system can take time. History proves that. Why set back introducing the system another whole year just to save a season with the hardest schedule in college football history? I hate it as a fan, and I'm not completely sold on Butch, but I don't fault him for not running a pro-style offense.

I think it would have been nice if he had made it a little less spread with Worley, but oh well.

This is my biggest issue with this staff. They should have played to our strengths this year while waiting on his type of players to get here.

Apparently he is good at something. 3 kids. Just saying. But seriously. If he ran a different offense than what he was going to install. Next year would be year one running it. 6-6 would have been great. But this season is a wash now. Be thankful that his offense is now a year in the making. Yeah it sucked productivity wise but the new guys got to see it. They see what the offense is trying to do. You add better widerecievers. (Next year). Tight ends.(next year). And better running backs. (Next year). I predict 8 wins next year. If the fans don't see brighter days ahead they should go ahead and have that last drink and step off the ledge.

good point, but, then what was up with starting the game running the I formation? is that what they worked on for two weeks? why not run it earlier in the year since it is more suited to the players they have?

If Butch is a system coach, he should run his system. Rodriquez was fired at Michigan because they didn't give him time to recruit to his system, but his system worked pretty well against Oregon. Given time, Butch's system will work. Running a mule system to accommodate a stable full of mules is not helpful.

I honestly don't have an answer to that question. I want to say last night wasn't the first time we've seen the I all year though.

what is also pitiful is the fact that we had two weeks to prepare and performed like that in the first half.

I didn't get past the sentence about running a 2 TE set..... you have to actually have 2 TEs first. We don't have, even remotely, an SEC caliber TE on this team. We will next year, but they'll both be freshmen and they better grow up fast......really fast.

Here in lies the problem - we were left with very little strengths. I think we would have struggled this year no matter what we tried. The worse thing that could have happened did happen when Worley got hurt.

Last sentence couldn't be more true. For all the b-itching and moaning he was our best option all year long. We couldn't challenge vertically at all after he went down and it killed what little offense we had.

We don't have one player that can cover 87.
Their hands were tied with Dobbs.
The adjustment could have been double up 87 and run it every play.
