Per his Twitter:

"Speaking to former players from the 50's & 60's! These guys built the foundation of this program & are truly #VFL! ow.ly/i/1grGC"

That's pretty cool to see them being engaged. It's such a huge part of who we are, important to have them involved IMO.

I really believe Coach Jones is going to get Tennessee back to where we belong. I, for one, am going to enjoy the ride :):)

Great to see the coach buying in to Tennessee and its history of great players. He buys in and he'll get the recruits to buy in as well. Bleed orange my friends. : )>

Coach Jones is so so good! And looking back on it....Derek was such a goob

Someone else summed it up succinctly. Dooley looks and acts like someone you would see in a court room while Butch Jones looks and acts like someone you would see in a football locker room. Because of that I think he will have a much deeper connection with the players and they will play much harder, later into games for him. The games Dooley found ways to lose, CBJ will find ways to win.

I agree! Very well stated! :clapping:

I'm not sold on Jones yet. Just being better than Dooley is a far cry from actually being good.

You don't have to be sold on him yet but you do have to like the way he connects with former Vols. It will only bring good things to the program if he continues to do so.

Yeah, I am happy that he has embraced the program and seems to really be rallying the former players. But it still doesn't mean anymore than Dooley's orange pants, if it doesn't help us win. We'll see.

Just judging what I've seen so far - I like what he's doing with the alumni. Not so much with the assistant coach hirings.

This is just great...man I like to be a fly on the wall at that dinner. What stories will be told. I think CBJ has reached out and grabbed the VOL tradition more than Dooley ever did.

And his welcoming of former vols continue. He just posted this via his Twitter. He's definitely engaging the former players.

Per Hubbs, the following former Vols were in attendance:

"Carl Pickens, Robert Peace, Erik Ainge, Jeff Hall and too many to name. Probably 40-50 guys after Hubbs and I left meeting with Coach Jones."
