Our university. Our coaching staff. Our student athletes.

Dude is a Vol, and I'll always respect him. Too bad he made a few mistakes. I hope he recovers and is successful wherever he gets his next chance!

Bruce needs to quit crying....He states he should be given more credit for moving forward...He only came forward because he was caught....I think none of this would have ever seen the light of day had he not initially been caught....and why would a coach come out and say "hey NCAA, I cheated, come get me"? I respect Bruce for what he has done, but the pity party needs to go...Bruce you gave us 6 good years, it had to end under unfortunate circumstances, it is what it is now it is time to move on....maybe you can go coach an NBA team and have BBQs all the time with the players without having to worry about recruits.

Im a Vol fan for life. Let it go. Pearl is gone. He buried himself. I dont feel sorry for him.Even if he had stayed I wouldnt let my son play for him he is a liar. How would I know he was telling me and my kid the truth? Would you trust him with your kid? I support coach Martin until I see a reason not too.

I liked Bruce and thought he brought a lot to the school and program. But, now, for the sake of all the players, fans, school, etc. he claims to care so much for, he needs to man up, admit he was wrong and get moving on!

Bruce pearl is a great coach and he clearly cared about the kids at UT. That said he made a huge mistake. It was amazing to be on campus during the basketball revival and I will always love BP but my loyalty will always lie with my school and to that I must say long live CCM

if he cared about the players at UT why did he lie and almost get them in a world of hurt?

Tressel lied. Calhoun lied. Pearl lied. Coaches lie. Period.
There is a bond between a coach and a player at a high level of competition, especially if you spend a couple/few years together going through the good and bad times, that transcends, "if he loved them, he wouldn't have lied."
That's naive.

I wish the body of the post would have read, "by smiling, waving, and walking to his car after saying, 'no comment'."

Exactly. If people actually think that their coaches aren't lying their asses off too then they're either naive, stupid or both.

The basketball program will be fine. Stop being a prima donna, or "pre-madonna," as you probably say.

Every coach in the country has lied about something. They haven't all lied to the governing body of their profession. Pearl did and he got the punishment he deserved.

I like Bruce, but he's got a long 3 years out of coaching.
He's going to become bitter about the show-cause penalty.
If he thinks that is too long already, wait till how he's going to feel in 3 years.
