SAIP Is this season turn around enough for Bigger Basketball schools to target him? Would he possibly leave if sought after?

I think he would want a chance to recruit his own guys and see what he could do with them.. He's in a pretty good spot.. Hes at a school with money, fan support, not a ton of basketball tradition, so the expectations aren't ridiculously high.. He could get real comfy here.

I hope so.

All of the following is opinion only and based in 0% fact:

I think he might get some attention, if not after this year then in years to come, but I don't know what school with a basketball program bigger than Tennessee would go after him this year.

Yes, we are a football school first, but in this century, we are much more of a dual threat school. And we are a school with a huge, dedicated fan base and a lot of $$$. Not to mention he has a team that completely believes in his system. He would be hard pressed to find a better situation.

theres really only 1 school id worry if they called and that is Purdue, simply because that is his alma mater.

obviously your big schools as well, duke or unc etc etc...

i think he is pretty happy here though.

We all need Painter to do well and stay put. Once he leaves, if Martin continues to excel, he'll be getting other offers. We can match pay with most every other program, but the pull of coaching at his alma mater may be too much.

The fans coming out and supporting Martin and the team has helped. I think a lot of the fan base had a Pearl hangover at the start of the season. They had a wait and see attitude. His style was completely different from the Pearl regime. However, if you win, it doesn't matter what kind of personality that you have. The people will usually love you. As long as you don't tell them to go to K-Mart.

Coach Martin is a Vol.

Remember last year, everyone had Painter heading to Missouri. Purdue had CCM #1 on their target list. He still came here despite that. He then said that Tennessee is where he needed to be.

Honestly, it's early, but UT basketball is a destination job. With the renovated TBA, the incredible Pratt Pavilion, the money we have in the AD, a good AD to work for, a great fanbase, and a solid recruiting foundation...I don't think it's too big of a concern unless a major B10+2 SCHOOL (like Purdue or Mich State) comes calling.

This. But doubt he would leave even if the B:10+2 called. He might take a run at the pros one day though. He has to win that first NC before even worrying about that. My gut tells me he is a VFL.

UNREAL that this has to start now.:banghead2:
I don't see a problem with discussing it. I would hate it if it actually happened, but I don't see many big jobs opening up right now. Maybe UCONN or UCLA but I don't think either would be a smart move right now.

That's the two I was thinking of.

A significant raise and extension are in order, and should help take care of that.
