This was probably my favorite part:

JULY

Martin was burning to hit the recruiting trail, and he did so with a dictum: all orange and white gear for his assistant coaches.

"You're representing Tennessee, so you have to go out there in your orange and white," Martin said. "There's nothing wrong with black with an orange T on the one or two days your other stuff was being cleaned.

"But everyone knows, I want orange and white. I want the recruits to identify us and see us."

"The one thing about a motion offense, you can put guys all over; like next year, now that Jeronne (Maymon) and Jarnell (Stokes) understand what we're doing, they'll be on the perimeter some, and our guards will go inside and post up.

"We didn't do as much of that this past fall, because we were just getting the guys to understand the offense and how to play hard more than anything else."

If there was any talk he told them no. They've moved on and are now targeting Ohio universitys coach.

As young as he is, along with Yemi, sure would be nice if they both grew another couple of inches. 6'10" and 6'11.
Wouldn't that be sweet!

Good point. I hope those who have been impatient with Coach Martin will get this point and understand that better days are ahead of us.

This is a great article and further increased my respect for Coach Martin. I enjoyed the insight into the progression of the team over the length of the season (and off-season). The commentary on this article is also refreshingly on topic and overall more positive than the commentary on the site where this article was originally posted.

Agree 110%! We only seen a piece of what Martin wants to do with the motion. He said when he took the job that he was going to simplify it and work the guys in so he don't overload them. IMO, a solid defense is the only foundation you need and you work offense in. I love how old school Martin comes off as. I can't wait to see what he does with the offense this season.

I think this is the way CCM explains how he will get Maymon and Stokes the ball since the guards won't pass it to them.
