I had the privilege of chatting with Cecil several times. He gave great advice and was always super kind. They don't make many like him.

Cecil was around a long time - he knew Bama through the good and the bad. RIP

He was but oddly you didn't hate him. He wasn't arrogant about their success. He always respected the Tennessee rivalry

I grew up with Cecil here in Huntsville. Went to junior high and high school with him. Brilliant writer and as humble as can be. I didn’t keep up with him after high school much. When I heard him on Finebaum, I realized who it was. (There can’t be two people named Cecil Hurt) I swapped a few emails with him and we acknowledged remembering the same things- mostly the kids in the neighborhood being terrors on swinn bikes. You know- butterfly handlebars, banana seat, slick tire. Warm memories in a few short emails. Anyway this makes me sad. He was a good guy and it’s a huge loss.
