He has come out and said that he will not be in attendance at the Heisman ceremony.

I think he is making the right move here. His statement that he did not want to tarnish a "sacred" event. Sacred......Really?

Does any one think he SHOULD be there?

Him not being there won't downplay the situation at all. Regardless of what he did, it's his son and he should be there.

So what happens if there's a lockout? No way in hades CN stays in college. First, it's widely alleged that he has hardly shown up for any classes. Second, if the NCAA finds the smoking gun while he's still a student athlete they can turn him into a paraiah. My guess it that CN will be in the CFL next year.

Aubarn has banned him from all school/football related activities.
I say he only shows up if Cam is leaving for the NFL.

i don't think it matters one way or the other if cecil newton did (or was allowed to) show up at the heisman ceremony.

it's a scandal that is still fresh in everyone's minds..

i didn't watch much of the award stuff last night, but everytime cam newton's mug was on the screen, the scandal is all i could think about...

if he's there, talking heads will bring it up.
if he's not there, talking heads will bring it up.

If it were my son, I'd be there.

I think that Cecil is more concerned about costing Cam money when he comes out. That is why he has been advised not to show up. The NFL teams that want to draft him, will want this to have died down as much as possible.

He will probably be there you just want see him on TV. Like the SEC championship game where he sat apart from the rest of family in the upper deck. But really who cares, I mean how many times can you remember if the players dad or mother was at a awards ceremony, I can't even remember one speech the players made. Whats important is your name in the record book not who was there or what you said.

Funny... He had no problem problem tarnishing the sacred office of pastor. That dude sickens me.

Sorry...

The only thing Cecil treats as sacred is money. If God came down and asked Cecil to lead the Barners through the desert into Glandale Arizone, he would probably ask for a hefty fee.

It has been alleged, and proven, that Cecil Newton shopped his own son to MSU for money.

In a biblical context, he tried to sell his son to an SEC school for the modern day equivalent of 30 pieces of silver.

Man of the cloth, my butt. He's a crook, a fraud, and an insult to both fatherhood, the church, and anyone with a shred of honor and integrity.

Cecil Newton is scum. Plain and simple.

This isn't over. It's hard, nay, impossible for me to accept that Cam had no idea what his father was up to. Cam's own words in an acknowledged phone conversation hint at it. There has been a lot of effort to explain the "context" of those words. I believe they speak for themselves.

The truth may never come out, but if it does...one more returned Heisman trophy, and big trouble for Auburn football.

Time will tell.

Why do people have a problem with Cecil Newton being there, but no proplem with former Heisman winner Billy Cannon being there? Cannon served a couple years in jail for a counterfeiting/money laundering scheme, and Ironically is now employed by the Louisiana State Penitentiary.

Good use of "nay".

Because most of us dont even remember/know who Billy Cannon is. Now I'm outraged.
