Should they legislate emotion in a game?

I'm not talking about EXCESSIVE, in-your-face, pull-out-a-cell-phone celebration. I mean high-fives, chest bumps and congratulating each other in the end zone.

I vote NO!

Since the coaches can't discipline the player the refs have to step in. Anybody who gets in an opposing player's face should get a flag. I want to see our defense dominate by there play and bring it on every down. Be physical up until the whistle blows.

After a TD how about a headbutt, or slap on the head. The high-five and chest bump are choreographed and shouldn't be allowed in my opinion in the college game. Keep emotion in the game but keep it simple guys.

I hope the officials continue the crackdown on excessive behavior. The players and coaches have forced the officials to make a stand for the games integrity. There have been fights break out in recent years for crying out loud over a game.

I vote Yes

I think a high five, chest bump, or a cheer to the crowd is fine. I thought the "unsportsman like conduct" was if you got in the other teams face and acted an ass!!??

If you cant score a touchdown and jump up and down for a second because your happy then why do it ??? Its rediculous!!!!!!!!

I agree with la. I think as long as you are not in the other team's face and are celebrating with your own teamates it should be fine.

The chest bumping and high fives after a big play is fine. The calls last night was excessive abuse by the game officials and each one should be suspended for 2 games!

Every time they threw a flag, they looked like a bunch of old white guys who just couldn't handle what they were seeing. The announcer said they looked like they needed some fiber in their diets.

I know most of you guys problaly turned down espn and listened to radio (That is the ones who watched it on tv...)

But did any of you guys catch what CPF said to burnett after the first celebration penalty when he threw the q-dog sign... LOLOLOLOL

CPF was on sideline and the espn camera paned over and you hear CPF saying "GOD**** you make a good play then you....." the camera quickly cut to another one...

CPF was chewing his butt!

The second penalty after the intercetion was nothing but a crazy penalty...I guess the ref thought that he was doing the BIRD by waving his hands to the crowd :) ....Wow so I guess if you are on defense and you want the crowd to get louder you can not wave your arms...

Ahh enough I'm still pissed at what refs are trying to do to the game...let the kids get excited as long as it does not excessive...All those workouts to play 12 or so games you make a big play and you git some 74 year old man saying no sonny you can't wave your hands in the air...or you can't jump up and down and act excited...

Give them an inch and they will take a mile. If we can all sit back and remember
why this became such a problem. Yes U.O. Miami, a bunch of smarta@@ football players who would run up and down the other teams sidelines taunting them.

As much as the call in the Vols game sucked, I have to agree with the officals. Keep sportsmenship alive.

I watched more of the ND and BYU game Monday night and was amazed at what those teams were doing in "celebration". Had it been UT the other night they probably would have kicked them out of the game. (The fact is they were doing the same thing and no penalties) The problem is the the refs Sunday were way over the line in calling those on us while another set of refs allow alot more. Someone needs to figure out what is acceptable and what is not aqnd then alert all the teams of the interpretation they come-up with.

They need to remember that these are still kids playing a game. While in your face antics should be unacceptable the exuberance of a big play or touchdown should be perfectly legal.

We need to remember that these "old white guys" (i'm not sure what that means) are officals in the best conference in the land and the SEC officals don't let you get away with anything. Sunday's calls were silly but i love the no bull SEC and the way they keep our conference respectable. Football is an exciting game and 100 plus screaming fans seems to get people to jump around.

Vinnywho I also heard Fulmer getting a little out of control after Corey Cambell picked off that pass. Something to the effect of "the defense got you the f&*%ing ball". I forget what else he said but it sounded like he threw in a damn.

My dad said he saw Fulmer chewing someone a new one during the game. I think that unless they are taunting the other players, let them be.

The officiating was horrid theo ther night, especially in these situations. Sure, KB could have left well enough alone, but I've seen worse go. Remember Raynoch and his "no-no" finger waving? He'd get flagged everytime now, I bet.

FYI, these were the same guys who did the Bama game in 2002, you know, the infamous play when Croyle threw froms his knees to another guy that was on his knees, got up, and ran for another 20 yards? Yeah, same guys. The runts of the SEC officiating crew, if you will. If I were Fulmer, I would have been on the horn with Bobby Gaston ASAP after reviewing the tape.

I thought I heard him say to Campbell something to the effect of, "First of all nice pick, but damn it. . . . !!"

All but one of those penalties were bogus. The one on Burnette for flashing the sign was legitimate.

Anyway, the officials need to relax and let them have a little fun. If you want to act like an idiot so be it.
