He'll make $4.3 million next year.

All of the moves were expected by Boston as the team’s front office waited until the November 1st deadline to exercise the rookie scale options. Langford will earn $5.6 million in the final year of his rookie contract next season while Williams will make $4.3 million. Both players would hit restricted free agent in the summer of 2023 if they are given qualifying offers by the team after next season.

Celtics pick up Grant Williams, Romeo Langford contract options for the 2022-23 season

I'm glad Grant is rich. Hard work pays off. I do wish he was somewhere else, the Celtics stink (huge Dr J fan) and I think he'd get to play more in a ton of other locations than the Celtics.

Like Marcus Smart said, "Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum need to pass more"

Never understood the fans hatred of him up there...he embodies the Boston spirit...undersized and hard working

The Boston fans hate him? Why?
No idea...its been less this year...but I've seen his name trending on Twitter clicked on it and there are fans having meltdowns that he gets a spot start here and there

He's in a good place. He's starting, which he wouldn't do for the better teams. He's a role player in the NBA, not a go-to guy

He started when Al Horford was out with covid protocols to start the season. He scored 18 points. He only played 7 minutes last night and 12 the game before. I'd love to see him get starters minutes somewhere.

He is always going to be a role player in the NBA

I was and still am skeptical of Grant's NBA potential. Personally, I was not convinced that he was an NBA player all the way up to draft night. Obviously he was drafted, so I accepted that I was just dead wrong. That being said, he would have to show quite a bit more very quickly for me to think he'll be a significant contributor in the NBA.

Not bashing Grant at all, he is my favorite Vol all time.

Well these are 2 very different things…obvious Boston believes he’s a NBA player if they just picked up his option. There’s nothing wrong at all with being an end of bench role player in the NBA for 10+ years, and I think that probably would count as being “an NBA player”.

You're overthinking it. I didn't think he had any chance of playing in the NBA prior to the draft. I was wrong. In light of the fact that I was wrong, I am stating I do not expect him to be a significant contributor in the NBA going forward. I would love to be wrong again, but as of now, I feel more confident in predicting he will be playing overseas in 5 years than the NBA. I don't see him as 10+ year NBA role player.

Gotcha…I think he will still be in the league, like I said them picking up his option ie a good sign obviously.

Her per 36 minutes average suggest he could be more. The Celtics are just a horrible fit.
I know his perimeter game has steadily improved. He certainly has a place in the league. If he leaves Boston at some point, I hope he goes to a better team. I think he would be a good fit in either Miami or Milwaukee given the current make-up of both those teams

Is it possible you are over thinking it? GW is very smart, a great teammate who makes those around him better, and a winner. Much like Josh Dobbs in the NFL, those qualities will go a long way in extending GW’s NBA career. He’s been outplaying what others have predicted since he graduated hs. He’s starting to establish himself as a quality 3 point shooter. He plays smart defense and makes heady plays. Barring injury, I could see him on an NBA team 12-15 years unless the salary rules force non starting veterans out for younger cheaper guys. JMO

It's nothing like Dobbs in the NFL. Williams actually plays
