Hayes: More change is coming, and it's all about money, power and the Power 5. Which means the SEC should be just fine.
I’m actually happy SEC held it’s ground last week as it really didn’t make any sense to me of the “near term” discussion about adding Stanford, Wash State, Oregon State or Cal to SEC.
According to Josh Pate, the feelings and opinions of CFB fans was loud enough to register in the conference administrate offices.

I thought this article today was actually kinda interesting - got me thinking again that there’s actually quite a few bowl games that don’t mean a whole lot to Power 5 (now Power 4… if not Power 3) teams. Instead of having a bunch of power conference athletes “opting out” for a lesser bowl, all of the lesser bowls should just be turned over to the group of 5(6?) conferences and leave the new expanded playoff to the “power” conferences.
Nothing against Tulane (or AppState, ETSU, etc), but this is clearly the direction the sport is going.
Well done to SEC offices so far…. I do believe regional model and traditions are important. If they ever “sell the conference out,” I’ll go back to my earlier position to fire all SEC staff in Birmingham.
Go VOLS!

The Stanford coach said he wanted to play Power 5 football. That is why they are on the outside looking in. College football is now Power 2 maybe Power 3.
