They just said it was a brilliant move to call Tennessee and ask to play next year because all it does is keep his team in the news. They went as far as to say he has some serious "intestinal fortitude" for doing so, and he couldn't have played it better. Are you kidding me? The positive spin he gets now while at USC is nauseating.

Amazing how those guys change their tune about the guy once he's at USC. CFL was a LK/Tennessee bashing show last year.

Looks like lane is desperate to keep USC in the news now.

...funny how that worked out.

Probably true, but all they talked about was how brilliant and courageous it was of KIFFIN to bring this offer to the table.

Well if you take the emotion out of it, it is brilliant.

He wants to keep the attention off of how screwed he is for the next 3-4 years.

I'm behind, what's happened? Someone tried to setup a game and we turned them down? Hammy, wtf?

ESPN needs to order some knee pads. Seems they lead the show off with SC every single day. Sometimes it's just a different version of what they said the day before. A team that can't sniff a bowl game until the end of Paris Kiffins 3rd year. It's not about the game anymore. It's all about the media whores.

I could understand them talking about the defending champs as bad as I hate them. I also could see them talking about contenders. Hell ... even the ND and Ohio State lovefest is over. They started the show talking about something related to the heisman trophy , then switched to "But first , USC bla bla bla bla f'n bla". It's like the movie Groundhog Day.

Yep.

Kiffin knows Tennessee isn't going to drop North Texas like that.

Kiffin knows he can talk and there isn't a damn thing Tennessee can do about.

He loves to play the villain.

Yep.

He loves to play the villain.

And this is my point, he plays the villain at UT and gets slammed, then plays the villain at USC and gets praised. I am not one of those ESPN shows bias type fans, but this is getting ridiculous. I actually agree that it was a good move on his part because he has nothing to lose, but for the commentators to dote over him was absurd.

It's a win/win for Kiffin and USC at ask and leak this.

If UT accepts, then USC gets a nationally televised game played in the heart of the South against a team they'd be favored against. Not only that, but the publicity USC would get would dominate coverage for the entire week leading up to the game.

If UT declines, it makes them look cowardice and USC look intimidating.

I actually wish Hamilton would have released this info on his own terms, and not have allowed Kiffin to hang on to it and be able to release it to distract people from multiple USC players and their highest profile recruit jumping ship.

Also, what's the the Layla Kiffin/children being eated joke? Did she really say she thought that Vol or SEC fans were wanting to eat her children or something?

EDIT: Great article by Clay Travis. I'd love for a 2014 matchup.

Honestly it didn't really accomplish anything towards that effect (save with us perhaps); CFL still started off today with their main stories being about the coaches' poll barring USC from this year's rankings and some of their players leaving...

True. If UT gets another USC transfer, then the story is brought up anyway. If anything, it would've been bigger news had ESPN gotten the report earlier and would've made an issue of it when Malik Jackson transferred. I guess having Kiffin in the news at just one time and not multiple times is best, but the guy thrives off bad news just as much as he does positive.

Oh well. As soon as another USC player transfers, I'll be able to chalk another proverbial minus next to the Kiffin Media Counter. ;)

even with another transfer...I think this is really more of an internet story than a media story. It's obviously not get enough clicks or reads for it to really become a big enough case that ESPN get too heavily into it...I mean it would most likely take Kiffin talking about this (or taking a shot) during a conference that was televised/recorded (like a postgame for example) for it to really pick up enough steam for a significant media following

Not saying we would beat USC, but i would rather play them when they have something to play for. With the 2 season bowl ban i can see Lane spinning it in to a "well these are tough times with all that's going on with our football program" kinda thing if they were to lose.
