Why Tennessee Might Win: The Auburn secondary can be thrown on. Auburn doesn’t have a high-octane passing game, and it’s a painfully inefficient attack, but this is the game to start throwing and throwing for more. Auburn might have a decent pass rush, but it’s not a killer. Florida Atlantic and Arkansas struggle to get anything going through the air, and the stats look decent for the Tiger pass defense, but Ole Miss and Texas A&M chucked at will, and Zach Mettenberger was effective in LSU’s September win. Tennessee doesn’t have a Mettenberger or a Johnny Manziel, but against Missouri, the passing game got a big yardage day out of …

Chuck it around and give Dobbs a chance. If the Vols are gonna win Dobbs is gonna have to throw for 2 TDs and 300 yards. And preferably limit the ints. Throw on this secondary.

^This, and a little more protection from OL for Dobbs wouldn't hurt either!! GBO!

If the OL shows up and plays well we should be able to score points.

Stopping auburn is the issue. They won't throw the ball 20 times, but it hasn't mattered so far and UT's rush defense isn't exactly high level.

Should be 3+ TD's from both sides. Auburn should win but that's why we play the games

For UT to win our I-line needs to grow a set and knock the d like off the line and open some holes for our run game and protect the Qb. Our receivers bed to eat something sticky with their gloves on so they won't drop the ball. The Defense just needs to play wide open throttle and not think about who they are lined up against and trust their coaches and quit giving the receivers 10 yard cushions and hit them off the line to disrupt their timing. With that said I just don't see none of that happening because as Jones said they are SOFT right now.

Phil Steele's take on the game

No. 9 Auburn Tigers at Tennessee Volunteers
Saturday at noon, ESPN

Auburn has won five straight in this series but the last meeting came in 2009. The Volunteers will have to improve a rush defense that allowed 300 yards last week to Missouri and now will be facing an Auburn rush attack that leads the SEC (averaging 306 YPG). However, the Vols are back home in the friendly confines of Neyland Stadium, where they are one play away from being 5-0 at home this year. Look for them to take the Tigers to the limit on Saturday.

Pick: Auburn 27, Tennessee 24

Deadly accurate arm? O.K.

Exact quote is "deadly accurate short-to-mid-range arm" and I think he is spot on. I was at the game Saturday and Dobbs was putting it right on the numbers on most short to mid passes. Early he slightly overthrew a couple that I thought were catchable anyway, and downfield his accuracy sucked (which I hope is just timing).

But I think the author nailed it...he was deadly accurate in fact. :post-4-1090547912:

I believe we need to stack the box and force UA to throw 25+ times. We need to LB and CB blitz a lot until UA can prove to beat us with the pass. Basically sell out on the run like it was pee-wee football until their QB can prove he can score by passing.
