CFP Semifinal - #2 Clemson vs #3 Notre Dame (ESPN, 4PM EST)

If Murray can avoid the Bama rush, he can give their secondary fits. The question is whether or not OU can stop the Bama offense. If Bama can just get two stops per half, they win by 20, maybe more.

If it's close, you have to like Murray's chances on the final drive.

They say defense wins championships. This game will tell us if that's true.

Go Vols. Well, in 2021.

Never say never, but Bama is 20 points better, at least.
That's where I'm at. I think Bama steam rolls them but wouldn't be surprised if OU pulls it off. If OU had even a hint of defense I'd lean more towards them. Both teams are averaging around 49 ppg but the defenses are worlds apart. And technically Bama would be way ahead in ppg if they played the starters in the 4th quarter but didn't really have to till the sec championship. I think it's going to be a 45-30 type game

Notre Dame got in on name only. They had no business being in this game and Clemson proved that. They should be forced to join a conference.

I said Clemson by 4 TDS, I'm gonna miss it by a point

Yep, until they join a conference they should be ineligible for the playoff. This beat down could have been gotten out of the way in the ACC championship game.

What does a conference have to do with it though? Didn't both Michigan State and Ohio State got blown out in back to back years in semifinals.

I do think it is crap that they aren't in a conference and should join one, but just because you go undefeated or have 1 loss in a conference mean you are any good.

Everyone at the top had an extra game against at least a a decent team. ND just sat back that weekend waiting for everyone else to screw up. They’re not winning the Big 10 or ACC. The CCG would have weeded them out earlier. ND is by far the most overrated team in football every year and every year it’s proven on the field. They get in by name only.

First, has to do with regular season schedule. You can’t cherry pick your schedule and make sure you play good and bad teams in the right order.

Second, has to do with championship game. One reason UGA was not considered is Alabama loss. ND didn’t have to do that. If they were in ACC they would have gotten blown out in champ game and not been in final 4.

I can’t stand Notre Dame as much as anyone, but you can’t really fault them for beating everyone they played. They should be in the B1G with all their natural rivalries, but nobody wants to give them their weekly recruiting pitch on NBC. Or 7 week recruiting pitch.

They didn’t have to play an extra 13th game against at least a good team. That’s my point. Everyone else had to play one. Everyone else had the chance to screw up, ND is protected. It’s BS.

Why would they get in a conference if they can go undefeated and make it into the playoffs? Seems like a win to me. Until the NCAA steps in, they have no reason to make changes even if it angers everyone else.

Because Clemson and Ohio State played in difficult championship games this year.
