Great. Got another on the way.
She is a trooper. This isn't even all of it, but it's some weird **** that went on....she told us her worst fear was waking up during surgery. After her colon resection, she told us she woke up. We didn't believe her. We thought her mind/drugs were playing tricks on her. The next day her anesthesiologist walks in to discuss that she woke up. Boy, did I feel like a jackass.
Then her colon resection developed a leak (because she's thin, probably) which happens to like 2% of surgeries. It almost killed her. She had to have an emergency surgery. A 4-day stay at the hospital ended up being 15. Then 6 months of chemo. A total of 6 surgeries. A lifetime of invasive checkups. She's stuck in her job (that she mistly likes) because the health and life insurance is awesome. The years before that job were brutal. We couldn't afford to save anything. I'm not even gonna say what the worst part was. I'll spare you. Mother **** cancer
People meet her and have no idea. You wouldn't know unless you see her stomach scars. We rarely think about it. It doesn't seem real. I think it's 10 years this fall.
