Challenge manhood at half Butch

Dobbs played well and showed a lot of potential. Makes it especially frustrating trying to imagine what could have been had he started (and not even only in this game).

Yeah, but maybe he was not the same player at the beginning of the season.

You guys sound like a bunch of clueless Notre Dame fans.

CBJ is doing an admirable job 3/4s of the way through year one.

We took a step back today - no question about that. Defense looked as bad as under Sunseri (many missed tackles, horrible angles and not keeping leverage, allowing long wide open completions on 3rd and longs - even for TD, etc).
As far as coaching, after seeing what Dobbs can already do it's clear he should have been starting for a while (he looked more comfortable and in command on his first series than Worley has at almost any time this season). Also, it was clear by watching some of the replays that our OC did not call a good game. For example the pick 6 at the end of the half was obviously a designed play to throw deep down that sideline but there was nothing available there (even Worley with healthy finger had no business throwing that pass) - the CBS analysis's clearly showed the replay where our receivers on both sidelines were double teamed before the play so the passing play was probably available in the middle (some type of screen) - I would expect our OC to see that and make adjustment if the CBS analysts were able to so easily pick it up.

Getting manhandled in trenches and you are a fool if you don't think this affects those kids and message he has been preaching. He needs great half time speech and good 2 nd half results

Um, so even tho they lose 19 straight to ranked teams, got blown out against Oregon and lost abother heart breaker (to Georgia) it's the very next game after the huge upset that he has the potential to lose the team? Nice.

We took a step back today but questioning whether CBJ lost support of the team is just dumb. It will be interesting to see emotionally what we look like vs Mizzou next week (and what they look like after their heartbreaking loss vs USCjr). Who will be more fired up and ready to play after completely different types of demoralizing losses.

I suspect the bad judgment of the QB coach, OC, and HC results from their inferior perspective of seeing players everyday instead of only Saturdays from your couch.

It was not me who picked up the fact that the play was called for Worley to throw into obvious double coverage - it was the CBS analyst who happens to know football and is a former QB who understands how to analyze film. Also, some players are "gamers" and some mostly only good practice players - that is for coaches to figure out (and based on what everyone saw yesterday our coaches seem to have misjudged how far Dobbs has actually progressed and what he is already capable off).

4-4 people. 4-4.

Every loss is disappointing, but we are right where analysts, media, and most of us projected, if not a game ahead.

Let's back up to Aug 1: what were you expecting? Someone said it yesterday, this is what it looks like when a team is learning how to walk again. Ups and downs. Good games bad games. Honestly, I think this shellacking (where does this term come from? Shellac is beetle sh!t....) is what this team needs. Sure a huge win would be great too, but us getting humbled going into these next few games could be a big "brick" in the "process."

Lest we forget how far UT has fallen. Previous coaches threw us into a wood chipper and left CBJ to pick up the pieces, or "bricks" if you will

Dobbs might've found the field earlier by not practicing like the #3 QB, and only being pressed into service by necessity where gameday onlookers then declare the staff negligent. If he'd played like he's been practicing, we'd hear little acclaim. The staff might know a bit more.

] The staff might know a bit more.

Isn't questioning staff decisions one of the purposes of these "democratic" forums? Or should no staff decisions ever be questioned?
Anyhow, I'm sold on CBJ so far but still undecided on the rest of the staff (and while they may be ok, I do know one thing that was over-sold for sure - they are NOT the best stuff in America).

Maybe they will get better when our talent gets better???

Yes, which is why we are politely disagreeing on the forum.
It's too early to be sold on anyone, but that's no impediment to supporting the positive things we've seen. You can bet your tail CBJ is the final word on who's QBing. If you're sold on him, by extension you must agree with me. :acute:

Sold on most things CBJ has done so far (energy, recruiting, overall selling of the program history, etc). His staff - a little better than I thought better when he announced them but still I don't think those guys can be long term solution if we want to get all the way back on top of SEC (but would love to be proven wrong about them).
