CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY(1/25/25) Official SUPER BOWL LIX Discussion Thread

I've been waiting for somebody with facts to destroy the perception that KC gets some kind of outrageously favorable whistle...I saw a bunch of stats for Mahomes' career that destroy the case, but what about post coronation? Well...

In the past two seasons in the 4th quarter of 1 score games, their opponents have been flagged 48 times.

With that setup, Ryen Russillo asked his guest how many times the Chiefs have been penalized. Willie Colon answered "under 10."

The answer is 47

It’s funny, I was rooting for the Patriots and the Chiefs when they won their first Super Bowls with Brady and Mahomes like most everyone was. Nobody likes a dynasty unless it’s your own team.

Same. I rooted for the Patriots in their first because the Pats had sucked for so long and I was sick of the Rams at the time. I had no idea the monster being created. Same with Chiefs.

My picks

NFC Championship Game
Eagles
The Commanders can realistically keep the game close if Daniels plays as a solid game manager, and the Commanders don’t self destruct with great mistakes.
The Eagles are more likely to prevail because it’s unlikely that Brown and Barkley get contained by the Commanders defense, Hurts can be very effective with time to throw, and the Eagles defense can realistically get pressure on Daniels forcing him to make great mistakes.

It won’t be a surprise that the Eagles expose Daniels as a Rookie QB in this game.

AFC Championship Game
Bills
The Bills succeed with a balanced offense which would make it realistic for the Bills to dominate time of possession.
The Chiefs offense can’t be very fruitful being on the sidelines for long amounts of time.

While the Bills would still need to avoid great mistakes, that’s the most realistic chance the Bills have for winning this coin flip game.

If it’s a competitive game without the Bills dominating TOP then the Bills are going to have to make less great mistakes, protect the football, and Allen has to execute clutch plays during critical drives in the second half.
Also, the Bills defense need to pressure on Mahomes so the Bills are more likely to get critical stops.

Heart says it's Bills time but my gut says can't bet against Patrick. Going with the gut Chiefs win at home.

NFC Championship hope a damn meteor hits the field with 2:00 minutes left in game. I hate them both.
