Chandler reminds me of Johnny Darden

He played for Springfield in high school when I was little. Watched him in high school when I was about 7 years old. He was lightning in a bottle. Single handily beat a good northwest team. I remember folks saying he was gonna go to UT. He was a good one.

Jordan Bone speed was the fastest you’ll see a PG play with. Chandler is up there.

Ziegler is still quicker than Chandler though, or it feels that way.

Both get downhill and expose teams with big man who can’t move side to side.

Quickest duo I’ve seen in a long time. Reminds me of watch smaller conferences in some ways where they use guard speed to crush souls.

That is high praise, Johnny was a beast and it appears as though Chandler if he buys into Rick Barnes"s methodology will be mentioned in the same breath as the all-time Vols

Only better. Darden's the only UT point guard I can think of that had comparable speed. Love the way this team plays; don't know that we've ever had this much quality depth.......
I thought the same thing but figured 90% of the people on this board had no clue who he was. Played against him in HS. Unbelievable player.

I saw Darden play in state tourney at MTSU when he was in Springfield. He was outstanding. He was a great player at UT but fans were alittle unfair. They expected him to be an all American PG like Grunfeld & King were. He was a freshman.

One of the great coaching mysteries to me was DeVoe moving Bert in front of Darden on the depth chart. I guess he’s smarter than me because he won the SEC Tourney that way. I don’t think anyone will push in front of Chandler.

For some reason I don't remember that. Bert was a point guard? Thinking he was a 2 or wing.

Did Darden play on that '79 SEC Tourney championship team ? Then, I did see him play at 8, I just don't remember. But, I do remember UT winning the Tournament, I was at my Granny's in North Hills for some reason. That's when my love for UT basketball became as much or more than UT football

Johnny Darden was special, and so is Chandler. I’m enjoying this years team, so fun to watch.
Anyone remember Darden near drowning incident during a holiday tourney in AZ I believe? Anyway, they revived him, he missed the game that evening is my recollection, ……

I saw a NBA aggregate draft, that combined somewhere between 5 and 10 mock drafts, from different media sites that had Chandler going 11th. Surprised me, I agreed with bTo, that KC would go after the 15th pick, right around 20th was my early prediction. Banchero first, Chet 2nd and Jabari Smith 3rd, if anybody was wondering

I remember it happening but couldn’t find anything when I Googled it. It was in the hotel swimming pool. I think he was unconscious at the bottom of the pool and was pulled out.

Bone was faster than Chandler and it does t feel close. ZZ is faster than Chandler as well. He is fast but I havent seen this "Elite" speed yet.

Chandler plays under control and fast that is the key. Some players are fast but often they are out of control and don’t have a plan. Chandler has good body control. Still work to do but he is very well rounded and will only get better. GBO!

Yes Darden did. Below is the link to his stats. I attended most of his home games at Stokely. Darden was a very, very good player who knew how to feed King. However, Chandler has a higher ceiling and is on his way to being special.
