Former WNBA president and USA basketball president Val Ackerman has found a "tremendous appetite for change" in women's college basketball, one of the results of a sixth-month study commissioned by NCAA championships staff.
Ackerman urges change to NCAA women's basketball tourney
there were a lot of changes that she is recommending that i don't agree with
"Ackerman advised moving the Final Four back to a Friday-Sunday format (the current format is Sunday-Tuesday"
wouldn't being on Monday and Tuesday be more in the prime time ?
" two-site super regional for the second week of the NCAA tournament that would place games in markets with high women's basketball interest. the eight-team super regional sites would host games for three consecutive years."
would that mean that it could be 6 to 9 years or more, before they were held at Thompson Boling Arena?
"Establish a multi-year site for the championship similar to the college baseball championship, which is held annually in Omaha"
I'm a firm believer in that it should be moved around to different schools that can handle the crowds or just make it Thompson Boling Arena, after all the The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is in Knoxville![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
"Reducing the number of scholarships from 15 to 13 to help spread the talent among more schools"
I don't think that is a good idea at all,i can see it being an issue for sure, with a couple of key injuries
"Implement a 24-second shot clock and use four 10-minute quarters instead of two halves"
the 30 second shot clock is fine as it is and with more running and a faster pace, wouldn't that hurt with her proposal to a reduced bench? and the 4 quarters I'm indifferent to it either way,I just wonder why they did away with it to begin with![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
