I have been out of the loop and just learned of this! This is nuts!

How does a school that is just (13-37) in 5 years with a football program make a hire like this?? I'm not even sure Baylor, McCallie, Brentwood Academy or Ensworth could make a hire like this!

Rob Spence former Offensive Coordinator at Clemson & Syracuse and was Quarterback Coach last season at Rutgers has been hire as the Head Football Coach at Chattanooga Christian High School in Chattanooga!

Chattanooga Christian names Rutgers' Rob Spence as new head football coach

This may a situation in which his mother lives in the area of Chattanooga and he wants to be in the general area because of health issues. You never know! It does seem odd that with his resume, he would take this job.

They've been in desperate need of a coach for a while.

I've heard under the old coach they didn't hit in practice. There 1st live hitting was in week 1 each year.

This is a good hire for them

Plus private schools dont really have a problem paying.

They just spent a ton of money on their field.
Why not a coach.

That's what I'm saying. They don't have a problem paying. Meaning, they are perfectly capable of paying good money for a coach. Most public high schools aren't allowed to do that. Although certain school districts and state athletic associations do allow booster clubs to pay coaches. Beyond those rare cases, high school coaches make nothing.

That's a bit of an understatement! Just a few years ago the guy was D1 Offensive Coordinator and were not talking about schools like Louisiana Monroe, MTSU or Akron!

I know they have money, saw it first hand last fall but again this is a school that has only won 13 games in 5 years!

He's also the guy that Fulmer wanted to hire for OC before he ended up hiring Clawson.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Most of your elite HS coaches are paid two to three times what a teacher makes as they are usually Coach and AD for sure (two salaries) and if they teach classes, teacher . The local car dealership furnishes them a vehicle, running funded tab at the grocery store, on and on comes to well over 150k+

You're correct, you know more than the high school football coach on this one.

Many schools give supplements of less than 10,000 for being head football coach (which is far below minimum wage). And many athletic associations and school boards prohibit coaches from being paid through the booster club. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen or that it's against the rules everywhere, but for the most part coaches are paid extremely poorly.

Most state athletic associations don't allow that. Some do, but most don't.
