If we smart ( and I know everyone will disagree) Chief would be our next head coach. He's been HC material for a very long time.

chavis is a hell of a coach with good talent around him. at tenn he was the same but the only thing i got against him is when we played lsu in the 2001 sec championship game and matt mauk came in the game after the starter went out and ran all over tenn in the second half!! cant understand how chavis with john henderson and haynesworth and co. couldnt stop mauk that night! never will!!

I'm pretty sure any coach out there would tell you Chavis is one of the best DC's in the game and has been for years. There's a reason he's about to win a second NT. I will never understand why Vol fans for the most part choose to ignore the great defenses we fielded while he was here.

Would love to see Chavis back as our DC.

He's proven himself and deserves the award this year. He can coach with talent--and even the 3rd and Chavis stuff works with LSU's super-talented DB's.

I don't think he'd ever come back to UT without having some guys who could draw talent like we had in the 1990's. He doesn't like to recruit and at LSU, he doesn't have to. The guy is a perfect fit for LSU.

Glad to see him getting recognized. It seems he still says positive things about his former Vols. On the national scene, he's one of the more positive reminders of what we once were--and thus what we could be again, some years down the road.

are always hard to stop. It's one reason our offense has suxed a lot for several years--we never have a QB that can move an inch without fallng down.

Would be hard to argue if he won it, but greg mattison should get a ton of votes. What he's do with michigans d is ridiculous.

I have a picture on my phone of Chavis crying during his last Vol walk. It broke my heart at the time. I love that guy. Chavis should never leave LSU. They appreciate him and Vol fans never did. We don't deserve him back.

He deserves it. The ones around here who aren't Chavis fans are just immature and silly.
