Anyone else impressed with LSU's defense last night?
Nobody had shut down Alabama like that this year.

I gotta admit that Chief's defense was strong and looks like he has solved his "3rd and Chavis". Great players definitely factor in, but I think the move has changed him for the better. JMO, of course.

Wasn't a fan of Chief's, but truth be told, he's a pretty good DC when he's got the horses. I have to wonder if the 3rd and Chavis wasn't more about lack of talent rather than scheme? If you can't get heat on the qb and/or you don't have good cover men, do you really want to get up and try to press? How confident do you think Wilcox is about bringing...and no offense intended to the young man...Teague up to play press on a WR with some speed? Nah...you play soft and hope the qb makes a mistake or the pressure gets to him.

Talent will make a coach look good and a lack of talent will get him fired. It's all about getting the Jimmys and the Joes.

Wilcox did the same.....for a half......which can be justified by youth and depth!

ehh another thread on the greatness of 3rd and Chavis >>> the only difference I see in him now and when he was at UT... he now has better tallent to work with.

It doesn't matter who the coach is when you have talent on D like LSU has. I could go coach that D and it wouldn't change anything.

So the Missouri thread stays in the UT football forum but this one gets moved?

If this thread stays in the foozball forum, it justs rehashes the same things over and over again.

LSU was 8–5 the year before Chavis showed up. His presence has helped LSU recruit premier defense talent. When your the DC at Alabama A&M and can post the best defensive record in the nation then your a pretty good DC.

He's a solid DC with a roster full of future NFL talent. They played an outstanding game last night against a great running game.

Anyone who can not admit that Chief is very good at what he does is just showing their lack of knowledge about the game. I would love to have Coach back as our DC. Last nights defensive game plan showed what he can do, and is a reminder of what he did for us as our DC when we had quality defenders.

When he has quality players. He was par or subpar just about every year for us for his last six or so.
