Hoping this isn’t the jinx, but and @Chris4Vols22 pointed out probably deserves its own thread to gain more attention.

I mentioned it after our OOC finale, but again it’s own thread seems deserving as well as justified, what Chaz Lanier is currently doing through 14 games is truly unprecedented waters. We all thought there was no way we’d replace Dalton Knecht with anything close to his production, we hoped for something close with Lanier but what he’s done to this point has been remarkable.

Obviously it can change through the year but to this point Chaz Lanier is outpacing Knecht from a points scored standpoint and is ahead of Lofton’s all time best 3pt shooting season as well, so I’ll continue to track both.

Through 14 games:

Points scored:
Dalton Knecht: 211
Chaz Lanier: 284

3 point shots made:
Chris Lofton: 42
Chaz Lanier: 56

Yeah boi!! 😁

Who knows if he can maintain, but imo what he's done in 14 games is astounding regardless of what happens later. Seems like a good kid too!

Jon Higgins is the current UT record holder for single-season 3pt% at 48.6, but he shot 53-109, so Lanier has already exceeded his made shots total in half a season.

I still think Knecht is a better finisher around the rim but Lanier has a much better shot and can score consistently from deep.

We’re lucky to have him.
Yeah, one thing I think is kinda crazy is that Knecht is def a better all-around offensive player, but Lanier has produced more points through the same amount of games.

Knew Lanier was having a good start, but those numbers....yikes.

Not sure why the national media has already anointed Broome as the favorite to win NPOY. His stats are good, but Lanier is putting up pretty good stats on the #1 team in the nation and might be the SEC POTY.
Betcha Broome won't go 1 of 9 with 2 TOs, one being completely clueless/lazy.

He sure sucks tonight. Number one. What a joke. The women could have more than 4 field goals in one half. " Man's we's number one. We's just get to show up" How humiliating.
