Our Vols haven't done very well of late. Whereas another traditional power and a cream puff's sudden rise has captured much attention. After reading an article, I'm left to wonder if our Vols have more balls than either of those two teams and are basically paying the price for having the guts to play somebody of significance.

Alabama and Vanderbilt have played the fewest games against ranked opponents in the final polls over the past three seasons, each with 12 games. Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee have played the most, each with 17 games.

Nobody in the league has played more games against top-10 foes in the final polls over the past three seasons than Tennessee. The Vols are 1-12 with the lone win coming last season against South Carolina, which finished fourth nationally. LSU has six wins over top-10 teams in the final polls over the past three seasons, which is tops in the SEC during that span.

That's the perils of a tough schedule. We're on the way back, just gotta give it more time and patience (which we don't have much of as a fan base).

If we were ranked then BAMA and Vandy would have played 15 games against ranked teams.

This is why I have said that we would be a nine win team this year if we were in the ACC. It's kinda hard to show progress when your schedule mirrors the AP Top Ten. Top Five recruiting class nationally, but only 4th in the SEC? Sheeeesh! It's like living life as Kate Upton's "ugly" sister. You might be beautiful, but no one will ever notice.

After Butch and Co. land a couple more top notch classes and the 2014 signees get seasoned, then we will be back to competing for the east on a regular basis.

Vanderbilt I can buy making fun of their "success", but you look really silly trying blast Alabama.

I must have missed where they called them "cheese champions".

Aim at interpreting or reading between lines. Better yet, don't nitpick, I mean shoot. Besides, I didn't call them cheese champions, the title of the thread was in question format. So it wasn't a claim but a question. Being a Vols board, I didn't realize if posting something that wasn't overtly pro-Bama was a forum felony. My bad.

I cut the cheese on a regular basis

Your own fault, Count. I told you to not suck the blood of those hills grown, onion eating, cabbage chomping Kentucky gals. But you just wouldn't listen so now you're powered along by a persistent tailwind.

I notice Auburn didn't have a problem with it. And unfortunately, TN has mostly been helping other teams schedules. But I agree, it is a lot easier to shine when you are playing creampuffs (Vandy) than when you are playing murderers row.

What would our record have been, had we of had Bama's schedule last year? This year for that matter?
Somewhere down deep....i respect Bama's success, but it pisses me off, that they always have an easy schedule . "The Dynasty" that hides until LSU and Iron Bowl......cowards
This homer loves UT and anyone who beats bubba. It really sucks living in bama as a Vol fan...damnit

If our permanent cross-division rival would stop having losing seasons, the week before LSU would get a lot tougher.

No doubt!.....We will get there sooner more so than later, but make no mistake.....we will earn it by playing some of the best AND winning. We don't and won't hide out.
OOC...go to Eugene and play(not a down usc)....Just bring Kiffin with you wherever to guys play.

UT would have been 6-6 had they played Vandy's schedule last year.

Ole Miss to start the season would have been tough with a new system in place. Replace Oregon with Wake and that's the only additional UT win.

The East schedule was virtually identical and the West would have included Ole Miss to opent the season and at aTm.
