Interesting to say the least, not really a Linkin Park fan, but I am a huge fan of STP and the new song sounds pretty good to me.

Stone Temple Pilots - Out Of Time - YouTube

Supposedly Weiland is touring solo singing a bunch of STP songs and that's why he was fired in the first place, but there are rumors that his vocal chords are so strained he can't hit a lot of the notes anymore. Not sure if the rumor has any truth to it or not.

Hybrid Theory and Meteora are two of my favorite albums of all time. Too bad LP has taken a nose dive into mediocrity since then. That being said, Chester has a great voice. The new STP sounds good. It was time for them to move on.

Intresting move. I think it could work. I will have to agree with SithVol that LP has taken a noise dive. I think once they decided to change their sound is when they started going down.

Commercialism has ruined music, even moreso now than ever before, IMO.

Agreed, just form a new band.

I'm not sure about SW's vocal chords, I saw them 2 years ago and he sounded fine.

I get Bennington couldn't scream forever but they've sucked since Minutes to Midnight.

No doubt Chester has one of the most powerful screams but their music now I don't know that I would even consider it rock. I don't even know what I would classify it as now

I've always enjoyed Bennington's voice.

As lupe says "Meteora was nice, but I bought Hybrid theory twice."

I was like 14 when they were huge(they did an article on them on grantland as THE alternative rock band of the 2000's, read it if you get a chance) so they're songs perfectly fit with the standard teenager dark thoughts phase most of us go through.

Interesting. I just watched some vids from 2011 and he sounded horrible imo.

I saw STP at Rock on the Range as their first show back together with SW. It was obvious they hadn't practiced much or SW was messed up because he would forget a line or three of each song they played. He sounded good just forgot lines pretty easily.

Almost two decades of drug addiction will do that to you

Let's not fool ourselves, Scott Weiland was at his best doped up on heroin.

Cleaned up, he and stp were responsible for that garbage album Shangrila De Da

CB has a pretty extensive range. I'd suggest listening to "From the Inside" or "Numb" off of Meteora. He probably can't match Weiland note for note (in SW's prime at least), but there's a lot STP can do there.

I was in 4th grade when Hybrid Theory came out. The first cd I ever bought and what got me into the kind of music I'm into now. Probably my favorite cd of all time.

I was about the same age. I remember my best friend having it and me burning a copy of it (because that technology was so amazing!) and we literally had it on non stop. It was something else. 24 million sold for a debut album.

And everyone forgets the collaborations they've done with people Like Jay-Z, or the fact they are all good when you look at Fort Minor or Breaking the Habit.

Those were good side projects. The Jay-Z collab was great too. ReAnimation wasn't a bad album. I actually liked a couple of tracks from Minutes to Midnight. I liked "Wretches and Kings" a lot from A Thousand Suns but that's about it.

I don't know who to blame but it's sad because they had potential to be a great rock band. Meteoria was awesome all the way through.

I'm fairly certain he's the guy that decided to change their sound. Which obviously was the wrong decision. Lol

The best I can describe it with Minutes to Midnight, I think they tried to become the next U2. Their look and videos and some of their songs had a very U2-vibe to it, and they went a lot more political than in the past.

I get they needed to change some, they couldn't keep the nu-metal sound forever, but they just really suck now. MTM was weak but it at least had some songs that sounded like classic LP, but A Thousand Suns was putrid bad, and I haven't even bothered to get their latest. I've heard their singles from it and they seem better than ATS but still not great.

I actually liked Bennington's side band Dead by Sunrise from a few years ago better than what LP has released the past 6-7 years.

I can see the U2 comparison with the direction they are headed and that may be why I don't like their new sound because I am not a big U2 fan. I bought MTM and was disappointed and haven't bought anything else.

I can't remember if I have heard any Dead by Sunrise. I will have to check them out.
