Chavis as usual allows another running QB take their team 85 yards an win the game...I'm so glad he's gone..LSU fans are very upset with this loss because of defense

Never really been that impressed with his in game calls. Made zero adjustments today and it got them beat.

As usual? U realize his defense is the one that pretty much shut Manziel down right? Their defense is usually pretty good against mobile QBs.

Besides if they didn't get robbed out of a clear TD in the first half they would've won anyway

He has had Haynesworth, Henderson, Dorsey, and on & on...They made him a good coach.
He would look like Monte Kiffin did at UT if he goes to Texas A&M. ( average)

That's usually how it works. Players make plays. You could say that about any coach. Do u honestly think scheme is going to fix everything if your talent level sucks?

You mean like in the SEC championship game against LSU with their 3rd string QB ??

I'm sure Spurrier or Saban would take him....

Or Sumlin. Oh wait, Sumlin actually is trying to take him.

But I never want him back in Knoxville. No one has ever accomplished less with more than John Chief Chavis.

Chavis does great most of the time against traditional offenses. He does have secondary issues in coverages and hardly ever adjusts. He is not so good vs wildcat and oregons type offenses. That was monte kiffins problem as well. The Tampa two old dinosaur type defense can't work in college. I was glad to see Chavis go. I know some of you younger guys will fight for the chavis legacy, but I actually think with the talent level we had back in the day we should have been more dominant, imo. I just saw way too many of the same pass routes bail out opponents over and over in the big games. You saw tonight that some of the same routes would have been completed over and over had nd thrown more accurately.

U r out of your mind.....chief is one of the best def coordinators in the country.

The bend but don't break defense broke a few too many times. He just has a brain freeze every now and then. He earned the name 3rd and Chavis for a reason.

Yes, I was pulling hard for Notre Dame, a team I have traditionally held in contempt. However, with several mid-staters apparently picking LSU, I hope the Tigers suck for the next 4-5 years.

GBO!

You are either talking about Mauk, who was one of their best QBS (idk I was 9 so couldn't tell u about their depth chart)

Edit: Not Mauk, Rohan Davey who ran for a whole 20 yds

Or u are talking about Perriloux who had the potential to be their best QB ever and he ran for 14 yds in a game where our offense cost us the game

They put an absolute beatdown on Oregon with their "holy grail" of an offense

I'm a fan of Chavis, but I agree that his defense is not well-suited to stop a team like Oregon. Chavis's defense is a gambling, pass-rushing type of defense. It's shortcomings come against the run game. Which is why Chavis destroys pass-happy Texas A&M every year (maybe that's why Sumlin hired him!), but struggles against run-happy Auburn and "Smashmouth" Arkansas.

But I think this is a common theme in the SEC. The aggressive pass-rushing teams struggle with the run-heavy teams. The 3-4 run-stopping teams struggle with the spread out pass-happy teams. It's sort of a "pick your poison" deal.
