For the purposes of legitimate conversation, they were debating the Paul/Frank bill for federal de-criminalization of marijuana in order to leave it to the states. Go.

never smoked the stuff but I get a chuckle at all the uptight folks (social conservatives for the most part) out there who, while defending alcohol and tobacco, think marijuana turns people into flesh eating zombies

Glaucoma is a life threatening disease?

I'm just saying... the legalizer crowd needs to get off of the medical demagogic rhetoric. I don't like the fact that they hide behind cancer patients and the terminally ill as their reason for wanting reefer legalized. I would respect them more and they would probably gain more support if they were just up front and honest and admitted that they want it legalized for recreational/social use... just like alcohol is.

That's my beef. I don't buy for a second that alcohol is any less dangerous on individual health, relationships, family and society as a whole.
