JJ Redick 31.1 MPG, 15.9 PPG, 3.1 Rebounds, 1.6 Assists, 1.9 Turnovers, .423 FG%, .953 FT%, .395 3P%

Chris Lofton 31.8 MPG, 17.5 PPG, 3.6 Rebounds, 1.9 Assists, 1.1 Turnovers, .488 FG%, .931 FT%, .458 3P%

I hope Chris improves as well as JJ did. Once he learns to drive like JJ, like he did in the Vandy game (Faking the 3, and driving), it will open up more 3s since defenders will have to watch the pump fake and drive.

The only numbers I take from that are the shooting percentages... JJ was on a better team than Chris is on, so he probably got less opportunities. That said, Chris is right there with him or better than him on the shooting percentages... :D

This post won't hold any weight if Lofton doesn't come thru for UT in the tourney. I believe that he will want to show the nation that he is for real.

Duke indeed got to the Final Four that year, with a better team than UT has now. While I don't expect UT to get to the final four, I do expect us to get to the Sweet 16, if that's the case and Lofton is scoring/shooting well. I think it is a good comparison.

Look back at JJ's stats for the NCAA tourney and tell me if you're impressed with them..nothing to brag about.

I would say that Chris and JJ both are about at the same level right now. The fact is Chris is a sophmore and JJ is a senior so Chris will definitely pass JJ's level of play by his senior if not junior year. :D

JJ Redick has had 14, 30 pt games - Lofton 3 this season. No way they are even close as a senior, Lofton will have to develop his inside game to be the player Redick is and it'll take 2 years to do that. JJ averaged 27, lofton 17.

Its going to hard to compare the two until at least Lofton's senior year. At Duke, JJ has been surrounded by great players every year and he is playing in the ACC against tougher defenses, both these factors lead to fewer opportunities and lower field goal percentage. However, I do not believe that Redick would have put up 41 points against a team like Texas during his sophomore year, yet he did put up 31 in the ACC tourney in either his sophomore or freshman season...Lofton put up 31 against Texas this year. That being said, I would say that Lofton's sophomore season is at or near par with Redick's sophomore season. I hope that Lofton can continue to develop his inside game and his ability to move without the ball and create open looks for himself. It will be fun to watch over the next two seasons though.
