Chris Lofton came to UT solely for the purpose of playing basketball. Fulmer and Company werent recruiting Lofton to play football. The verbal commit shown on that page is in reference to the basketball commit. Nothing to do with football.

Chris, starting his sophomore and junior years at wide receiver and free safety, helped lead the Royals to 12-2 and 11-2 records while taking them to the semifinals and quarterfinals of the playoffs. Chris will be one of the top wr/db’s in KY next year. He is an A/B student, 6'3, 195 lbs, benches 225, cleans 275, and runs the 40 in 4.6. He is big, strong, athletic, and fast with great hands.

Ht: 6-3 Wt: 195 40: 4.6

Position: WR, DB
Projected as: WR, S
Position Rank: NR
Birthplace: Maysville, KY
Class: 2004 Senior
High School: Mason Co HS
(Maysville, KY)

I didn't know all this had to do with basketball. so what is a wr in basketball?

Yes, he played football and was a really good football player but UT never recruited him in football mainly because he let it be known he was a basketball player and that was what he was going to play in college. The only thing he committed to playing while at Tennessee was basketball.
