Read this post first from ESPN's B1G blogger Adam Rittenberg

B1G's playoff position (pay attention, SEC) - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

For a league that prides itself on superior on-field speed, the SEC seems pretty slow in grasping the Big Ten's playoff position.

Then again, SEC folks seem to bristle at anyone who doesn't pay homage to their greatness, kiss their feet and fall in line with their view.

And then check out Chris Low's response:

SEC's playoff position: Big Ten is scared - SEC Blog - ESPN

We thank (or is it ‘think’) ye, Adam.

Sometimes, us Southerners are a little slow to grasp thangs and aren’t as sharp as you city slickers, and we’re much obliged to your reinforcing that hackneyed, close-minded stereotype.

What’s not a stereotype is that the Big Ten is scared, and I’m talking trembling-in-its-boots scared that it’s going to be left out of the party when a national playoff becomes a reality in 2014.

That’s what happens when you haven’t been a player nationally since before teenagers in this country were actually calling each other to talk instead of texting.

And, yes, Adam, we do know how to text down here in these parts.

if you check out the comments section of each article, you'll notice there is a ton of hate being spewed by the B1G fans. Jealousy.

Owned. The Big 10 should be used to being owned by now. Step up to the plate or just shut the helzzz up.

I don't get why you wouldn't want the top 4 in the title hunt.

Conferences are not created equally, obviously. Setting the requirement to win the conference is like saying Clemson was better than Bama last season.

I read this this morning and didn't see the previous post from the big ten guy that solicited it. That makes this even better.

It's why Big X was a stupid name to start with. Midwestern Conference probably sounds like a rather lame name for the tradition-rich Big Ten. But, had they called it that from the start, the MWC name (Midwestern, not Mountain West) would be a major brand now, like the SEC.

When you think about it, our great conference has a directional name. Yet, it's exploded into a major, well-known brand.

Chris Low must be dumb. I was just told in the past few days of the greatness that is the Big 10. I guess Chris shares my view.

Who the heck does understand Delany's position? And, furthermore, at least the SEC (and the ACC, I might add, since this is also a Southern "thang") had the foresight to not name its conference according to how many member schools it had, unlike half of the other major conferences.

I always love fans of teams (Oregon, ND, USCw, etc) whi either havent been relevant in the last 25 years, or have only been relevant for the last 5. These people start bickering and throwing out numbers as if they have been relevant since 2000.
oregon has a decent %W/L around .680-700
Notre Dame hasnt been relevant since the early 90's
SC has been good, but also has had problems with the ncaa
ohio state hasnt been relevant nationally since 2002

I dont see their leverage for an argument on the playoff system
