Chuck Smith and Charlie Baggett

I follow recruiting quite a bit, but I just had a newborn baby and got a promotion at work so I have not had the time, couple questions.

First how big a role is Smith and Baggett playing on the recruiting trail? Both guys have proven track records with high caliber NFL guys and think most WR and DE/DT guys would love to come be coached by them.

I also want to know how we lost one of our best in-state guys to Alabama? Dooley said his first order of business was Tennessee, I am reading a lot of stuff saying the staff did not contact him much, until after his recent commit.

I also would like to say that I am pretty disgusted in some of our fans. You guys act like because we do not have 10 5* recruits "Verbally Committed" it must mean Dooley and staff are not doing their job. From what I am reading we are on the radar for a lot of high profile guys, I just think the staff wants to make sure they are 100% UT before they start announcing. I would not be surprised if the staff already has a few big commits and is just keeping it silent. Give it time fellas', remember just because they commit now does not mean it will be the same 10 months from now.

1. Smith and Baggett's resumes are BIG pluses on the recruiting trail. Anytime you can name drop to these 17 year old kids, it's a big thing.

2. Jabriel was always partial to Bama and LSU, and was before Dooley ever took over. He would have been just as hard of a pull if Kiffin was here as well. Never fear though, there are better prospects instate, IMO, and we are in on them. We also have to let a couple of years go by and see some results before the instate kids come banging down our doors.

As Eric said... Baggett and Smith's resumes are big pluses. They don't have the name recognition, but when they list their experience... the kids will listen.

Congrats on both! Yes, Bagget and Smith will have a huge impact. GA people love CS and along with Dooley's coneections here, I feel we could take over GA recruiting.
I cannot agree more with you last comment. Well said.

Talked to both Coaches Briefly at haslam field autograph session before the Orange & White Game the other day.

CB is a card. I asked him if we had learned to catch yet. "We are getting there. We could use a third hand at times". Given with a big genuine smile.

CS (56) This guys motor is still running on the Orange. Said he loved being back. That we were learning and would be ready. I said as leaving the area as he was the last coach at the table. Keep on'em Coach. He said " I on'em now and I'm at this table....Personable fellow, full of energy.

I would add that each coach was excited about being at Tennessee. Great group of guys. Working on Getting a frame for that fan day T-shirt. Might just be National Champions one Day because of these guys efforts and I want to be able to look up and smile at the thing when that happens.
