Chuck Smith = UT DL Coach?

I have seen multiple messages on Chuck Smith being our new Defensive Line coach. Has anything been made official as of yet?

We have to have a DC in place that would officially "hire" C. Smith. All indications are that he (whoever HE is) will hire him, but that's how they officially have to do it

Thats the problem. There has been threads started about him being hired and then not being hired and then Rex Ryan releasing him from the Jets with the probability of him being the next DL coach at UT. I believe GOVOLSXTRA even had an article up about him getting the job a week or so ago. I did not know if it had been made official.

Worst kept secret of late. Since he will work under the new DC, the new DC will make it "official".

I think so too. And with the Tennessee ties to boot! He seems like a real high energy guy that has the ability to connect with alot of younger players out there. I guess Rodney Garner is off the table as of late?

If the DC had to be hired before the DL Coach then why wouldn't the rest of the defensive staff be the same way? It also makes you wonder about being given a choice of two, wouldn't the new guy get to pick his own if it was truly his decision.

Was listening to several different radio shows, and all say that it is all but a done deal that Chuck will be on the staff, but they are just waiting on the announcement. I don't know why, that's just what most including Hubbs, Low, and others all seem to say.

Coach DD has his man but is waiting to after NSD. DC apparently has some class about him not wanting to leave right before signing day and hurt his present team.:focus:
