Tuberville Takes High Road In Blame Game, I Don't (It's Butch's Fault) - Cincy on the Prowl - A Cincinnati Bearcats Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

As I said earlier, I don’t think Hank Hughes is managing this defense very well, at all. But this is not totally Hank Hughes’ fault. I will not sugarcoat this: Much of the blame for this defense should fall on Butch “Hold The Rope/Represent The C/Snap And Clear/insert any other corny catchphrase here” Jones. During his three years, Butch Jones won some games with Brian Kelly’s decent players, all the while recruiting really bad players to replace them. This isn’t meant to be an affront to the current young men who put on a Bearcats uniform and represent my alma mater. These guys try hard and lay it out on the line, but they just aren’t the greatest players. This is an indictment of Lyle Allen “Butch” Jones. I knew the guy was a nut job from the first time he set foot on campus. He addressed the crowd at a UC basketball game in early 2010, and started bellowing catchphrases as throwing up his hands to pump up the crowd – Except that his catchphrases were lame, and his raise-the-roof gestures looked a lot like John McCain (McCain has a damn good excuse, but Jones is just weird).

Hmm... according to the recruiting rankings, Jones recruited better than Kelly who was before him. I guess the author just forgot to include that little factoid since it completely invalidates his argument.

I think the author is just butthurt that Jones went to a better University. The real question is why would any decent recruit want to attend UC? They shouldn't.

Agreed. It's easier to blame the coach who spurned them for a better job than it is to blame their washed-up has-been of a coach who's only there to collect a paycheck.

Cincy had a nice revolving door of coaches with Dantonio, Kelly, and Butch. Tubby just couldn't keep it going and now "Butch" is being called out. Sour grapes is all it is.

It's Cincinnati. They play in the Not Big East against teams cobbled together just to keep a conference. And they are in the huge shadow of OSU and play in a pro town.

They're lucky they can get 40k to show up each week.

Tuberville has been a head coach for 19 years. He's lost 5 games 10 times. Funny how he keeps being in situations where players underperform.

UT's fans lay much of the blame on Dooley. Cincy is blaming Butch. Butch has recruited up a storm for the Vols from the minute he arrived. What has Tuberville done since he took the Cincinnati job?

There's your story and your answer...

Every new coach has his own catch phrase. Bielema's phrase is "Never Yield". Freeze's is "Win the Day". When Mullen arrived in Starkville, his was "This is our State".
