QB Casey Clausen (6-3, 215) was a four-year starter at Tennessee who appeared in 47 games (44 starts) for the Volunteers. Clausen completed 775 of 1270 passes (61.0%) for 9,707 yards with 75 touchdowns and 31 interceptions, numbers that are only topped by QB Peyton Manning on the school’s career charts. The Northridge, California native earned consensus All-America honors as a prep at Alemany High School.

Hopefully sign as a free agent somewhere. But the only reason he stayed at KC was because of Al Saunders the OC.

Casey should be able to make the practice squad for another NFL team. He has the skills, but he just needs to be given the opportunity. He will have no problem proving himself if he gets with the right team in the right situations. The stagnant UT offensive scheme underutilized his talents. Casey will be fine.

Saunders was quoted several weeks ago as saying that Clausen would in all likelyhood make the team. He said the Chiefs were going to keep 4 qbs and after seeing Clausen in person told their 2 NFL-Europe qbs to not even show up for the preseason. Clausen looked good in his first preseason appearance, even driving the team in the two-minute offense down inside the 10-yard line as time expired.

That suprises me as well. I thought he was pretty much a lock for that 3rd QB spot.
