I think Clausen did ok. When you think about it, the offenseplayed pretty well. It was the defense that didn't play good today.

Rick played the way the coaches had hoped. He did nothing to beat his team, took what Vandy gave him and threw only one pass , the int. across the middle, that he shouldn't have thrown. Great job Rick, keep up the good work, get better and whip the Cats' :good: :td:

Rick gets better when the ground game is a major factor like it was for the first 3 quarters today. Without it, his defeciencies are magnified tremendously.

I voted above average. It was nice to see the o-line protect Clausen better in this game. The running game help take alot of pressure off him as well.Good job Clausen. As for the defense, wth was that all about? If we play that kind of defense in the SECC,Auburns going to have a field day.

Well, when the Vols can line everything up, we're a pretty damned good team. But the only time that seems to get done is when they know there is an uphill battle in front of them. And the SECCG is going to be the biggest uphill battle they will have all season.

I would say Clausen was above average today, considering this is only his second career start ever. I feel very confident about him and his ability. :good:

I'd rather have Leak in there, JMO. I thought Clausen did ok, but he would've been horrible without the good running game.

Given the situation, I thought he did above average. The first interception where the ball was slightly underthrown was the job of the reciever to get the ball or bat it away if it was going to be picked. Neither was done. The second one....welll not the best decision, but you will try anything when the local peewee defense is playing for you. :banghead:

we were playing Vandy my mother would have payed OK against Vandy, this was no true test Dec 4 will be Clausen's Exam. KY will not even be a practice test but it will get him some more gametime reps .

i got the distinct impression the oline was protectin clausen like a baby....knowing that if anyone got to him could mean the game, even against vandy

Not to burst your bubble, the pass protection looked pretty good, but I got the distinct impression that we were playing Vandy and not Notre Dame or Alabama.

true..but it to me it looked like the oline guys were very concious of the fact it was imperitive they let no one get past em. more so than if ainge or schaffer were under center.

I guess some of it could also be that Clausen knows the offense better than the freshmen and knows where he is going with the ball, so he gets it out a little faster.

Given that most pregame predictions... even on this board.... had the Vols scoring less than 20 points against Vanderbilt.... I thought Clausen led the team very well.
