We know SEC champ will be in regardless of record at this point.

OSU or Michigan will likely go undefeated.

So, does Clemson or TCU stumble at this point?? Clemson has a road game at ND, but then home the last three games.

TCU has to go to Austin.

Plus championship games.

But is this possibly the year 4 zero loss conference champs go to the playoffs?

Clemson will back into the playoffs as they have in recent years, unless somebody pushes them outside the top 4 at the end. They will enjoy the benefit of yet another cupcake schedule and will be healthy and make a run.
They won’t likely have much of a fight out of anybody the rest of the way. The close wins they’ve had over inferior opponents, as well as being the bell cow of the ACC, will be sufficient.

South Carolina might be the team to knock Clemson off.

Clemson has beaten 3 Top 20 teams. That's hardly a cupcake schedule.

Unless I missed something, Tennessee is the only team with more sins over ranked teams this season.

TCU has a tough road. Going into today, FPI gave them a 1% chance of winning out. Away at WV, TX, Baylor.

Clemson has to play ND, LOU, South Carolina, and Miami.

Most likely scenario is that both TCU and Clemson end the season with a loss.

I think if we lose 1 game, we still get ranked over all other 1-loss teams except OSU (and Bama, if they win the SECCG). Our 5-1 record against Top 20 teams will just be too strong.

TCU has beaten 4 top-20 teams. But they only play one more (TX), whereas we play 2 more (KY, GA).

2 of them were at home and unimpressive. The only good win they have is over Wake in OT on the road at that formidable coliseum of death known as BB&T field.
All of those teams are in their division, and the other division won’t send anybody worth much to the league championship.
Same story every year. They get in the playoffs by beating a much inferior opponent in the ACC title game.
Meanwhile, whoever goes to Atlanta from the East will have to go through UT and UGA AND play either Bama, LSU or Ole Miss. And that’s just to win the SEC.
Clemson is the darling of the ACC at the moment, and the calls they got in that game yesterday reflected it. So, unless somebody pushes them out of the top 4, which is certainly possible, they’ll be back there.

Which brings me to me next question. Is South Carolina legit? we are most likely playing at their house at night with a lot to lose.
They’re better than I thought they’d be, or maybe it’s more that Kentucky and A&M are worse than I thought they’d be. Either way, they’re not close to on our level. That should be a comfortable win.

I don’t think Clemson is one of the four best teams in the country. Maybe not even one of the top ten. I’d take all the following teams to win in a game with them.

Ohio State
Michigan
Alabama
Tennessee
Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
USC
Oregon
TCU
Maybe some others if I thought about it some more.

But, if they go undefeated I expect they will get in due to the business aspect of sports. Although they are a crappy market. Kind of an isolated world in no where land South Carolina. Which is why they would never be a candidate for the SEC. Already have that dinky market covered with South Carolina.
