Good lord.

He really shouldn't have even been let back out there enough for it to get to 5.

What an idiot, but glad he finally "decided" to retire when he basically has no other options. Wasn't NFL bound. How does that get by the training/coaching staff at any major program?

Wow. 5 concussions in 14 months? He's lucky to be alive and functioning.

It amazes me what staffs will allow athletes to play thru.

Technically he is quitting, not retiring.

While I agree, what bit of difference does it make. I'm sure the guy loves football but , there are more important things in life. I think the guy made the right decision. How does that stuff slide past a trainer ? 5 ?

His dad is a coach at FSU

You'd be extremely surprised. Coaches are insanely busy on the field to focus on individual players.

I'm not blaming the coaches. Medical evaluation isn't their responsibility. But there are trainers and team doctors, and more and more it seems like they aren't effectively doing their jobs.

I'm surprised Patton Robinette at Vandy didn't quit football as well. The guy is studying to be a doctor but has suffered multiple concussions playing football.

Or the players bypass the medical personnel by manipulating them. They will do many things to not leave the game.

If we were talking one concussion in one game, I'd see your point. Five concussions in a little over a year? Someone missed something. In fact, multiple someones missed multiple somethings.
