Clinton leads 2008 money chase | Politics | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Hillary Clinton raised $27 million for her 2008 presidential bid in the third quarter, leading all rivals and strengthening her front-runner status three months before the first votes.
Clinton's campaign on Tuesday reported raising $22 million for the primary nomination race that begins in January and another $5 million for the general campaign ahead of the November 2008 election.
Her fund-raising beat top rival Barack Obama, the first-term Illinois senator who raised $19 million in primary money and another $1 million in general election funds in the quarter that ended on Sunday.
The strong performance defied historical trends for the third quarter, when presidential candidates typically raise less money as they compete for attention with summer vacations.
It also gave Clinton a fresh edge on Obama in the one area where his campaign had showed the most strength -- raising money.
"Hillary wanted you to know that this was our best quarter yet," her campaign manager, Patty Solis Doyle, said in an e-mail to supporters. "This is the moment when your dedication defied the skeptics."

Thoughts?

What a waste of money. That money could be used for a lot better things than commercials.

Look at the money race across the board. Look at the House, Senate, and Party committees' fundraising. The Dems are killing the GOP. The GOP is actually in debt in some committees. Initial looks at who is giving is showing some of the W donors actually jumping to Hillary now. Even many of the major power money that has given to the Republicans since 2000 are now giving to the Dems. Do they see the writing on the wall?

Yeah baby!

Russian National Anthem

National Anthem of the Russian Federation
(music by A. Aleksandrov, words by S. Mikhailov)

1st verse:

Russia - our sacred sovereignty,

Russia - our beloved land,

Mighty will, great glory -

Are yours for all time!

Refrain:

Be praised, our free Fatherland,

Union of ancient fraternal peoples,

By our forefathers was given the wisdom of the nation,

Be praised, our land! We are proud of you!

2nd verse:

From the southern seas to the polar lands

Are spread our forests and fields.

You are unique in the world! Such is only you -

Our native land kept by God!

Refrain:

Be praised, our free Fatherland,

Union of ancient fraternal peoples,

By our forefathers was given the wisdom of the nation,

Be praised, our land! We are proud of you!

3rd verse:

A wide expanse for dreams and for life

The coming years open up to us.

Our loyalty to the Fatherland gives us strength.

So it was, so it is, so it will be always!

Refrain:

Be praised, our free Fatherland,

Union of ancient fraternal peoples,

By our forefathers was given the wisdom of the nation,

Be praised, our land! We are proud of you!

the GOP is weak right now. Under the soft leadership of such luminaries as Bill Frist, George W., Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham, etc. the party is now seen as a bunch of milquetoasts too afraid to speak their mind because the media might make fun of them and the Ted Kennedy's of the world might rise up in drunken indignation and call them nazi's.

the money is going to follow the people who look and act like winners.

Frist was too busy thinking 1600 Penn Ave. That's the key problem with leading those committees. The leadership is too busy thinking about the next stepping stone to finish what they were voted on to do.

If she really believed what she preached she would use this money to fund healthcare for the "less fortunate" (read: lazy).
hey there. Watch your mouth. It's tough to choose between that new cell phone with full digital communication package and health insurance. Plus, how do you expect one to fund a 832" tv upon which they play their PS3.

Have a little compassion please.

I would propose O' Canada or the Swedish national anthem before I would the Russian...but that's just me.

I think it's funny how even Bush donors are fleeing to go raise money for Hillary. I guess all that corporate money supports socialism as well.

Dang straight baby!

Corporate power meet government power!

:good!:

Once every thing is turned over to the government those people will still have jobs for life within the government.

:eek:k:

What do you think about Ron Paul's numbers? He raised more than Huckabee and almost as much as McCain and Thompson.

It is funny you mention him. I have seen a huge push in the metro Columbus area for Paul. In the county I live in, Delaware, there are Ron Paul signs every where.

Also, on my commute into Columbus, several over passes have homemade Ron Paul signs hanging across the fenceline on the bridge walkway.

Something has to be up...

The man has a cult following. We get requests for data from various "(insert city name here) Ron Paul Meet Up" groups. These people are everywhere. Now that you mention it, I have seen quite a few Rust Belt state requests from his following. What are you all doing up there?
