Is it just me or does it seem like we are going back to the recruiting drawing board lately? It just seems like there have been an awful lot of offers lately. Not that this is a bad thing. One of my worries about Pruitt has been that because of the schools he has recruited to in the past, he might spend too much time going after the most elite prospects whom at this stage in our program's history, we will get a smaller share of than he is used to, and not enough on solid prospects who can be really good in a few years with some coaching up and development.

If you don't recruit them. the best, you don't get them. Offer all of them and take the ones who are interested and you can get. We caught some pretty big fish last year; some that Bama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida etc really wanted. It was said yesterday, that we are ahead of where we were last year at this time in the recruiting cycle. We will be bigger stronger, and faster this year.Pruitt will win 7-9 games this year and recruits will flock to Tennessee. Happy times are on the way. He upgraded his staff's teaching and recruiting talent over last year and the results will come. We will like average 10 more points on offense and give up at least 7 fewer points compared to last year.

It is normal to have new offers after spring evals

This is what I was interested in, is this a normal time to send out a butt ton of new offers? Apparently it is.

EDIT: I've been following recruiting for over 20 years but some of the newer aspects (like the way we learn from Twitter about every offer in near real time) and other message board lore like the enigmatic "silent commit" and how it is known/what it is worth if it exists are still curious to me.

I said "smaller share than he is used to", so I wasn't saying he had whiffed repeatedly, I know Alontae Taylor, JJ, Crouch, HT, Morris, Wright, and a couple of others had offers from about everybody

It's due to Spring evaluation period. A lot more offers will go out during this time.

UT was one of the top schools last year when it comes to offers made. They are going to offer everyone they think can help; then hopefully be able to pick the best of the lot.

holy crap. the kid can actually move pretty well....wasn't expecting that. now the competition level doesn't look to be all that great. buncha runts out there he's straight destroying....

but you can tell he's gotta little mean streak. apparently whenever he has the opportunity to pancake ya, look out..it's happening.

saw some pretty obvious holds, and he'd have to watch the ineligible downfield penalites....but damn, i wasn't expecting him to move like he does. kid is huge. no idea how his game would translate at this level. would think he'd be a road grading guard. as well as i htink he moves, im not sure he's got enough wiggle to be an effective tackle.

Too big. During warm-ups, he'll make all the other players look small and weak, thereby giving a psychological advantage to the opposing teams.
Would be funny if Trey Smith didn't break a d-lineman arm in warm ups last year

Has to be pretty mobile being from Canada since the only thing they have there is ice skating.

Definitely needs to do more lifting and conditioning... lose maybe 20-30lbs and turn a lot of it into muscle and he could be a really good Guard.

Kid was mentioned during the RTI podcast with the VolsRecruitingReports guys as someone to remember. I don't know if they were suggesting theres been contact between us and the staff, or just that he's someone we initially offered and we're going to have to bring in someone in this class.

Looked him up and discovered he's now playing down in Florida:

The reported 6-foot-7, 360-pound offensive lineman and Ontatio, Canada native is now playing prep football in Florida hoping college football programs don't miss the chance to recruit him. Unlike other international prospects, he kicks off his time in the states with scholarship offers in hand. But very much like some of the top Canadian football players, he's made the move to Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International.

Tennessee, UMass and Howard are already on the offer list but the class of 2020 prospect says a bevy of top programs have been in contact awaiting how he transitions and comes out of the gates this football season.
