If I’m remembering correctly, 10-6 SEC was the most common prediction around here. I think everyone thought they’d lose to SC, Tx, LSU twice, probably OK and then another rando league game. They actually underperformed that a bit.

Well, OBVIOUSLY the most important thing to ask to accurately evaluate Kim's first season is: "Does lvocd still have a minor crush on Kim Caldwell?"

It's a "yes," but a nuanced yes.

We'd all have to meet up for some beers to get me to explain. 🤣

Losing more games vs. SEC than we won including 0-2 to Vanderbilt makes it impossible to be an A. What would "winning the conference" have been, S++?

But going undefeated non-con makes it hard for it to be a C. Taking down UConn was wonderful. Wish there was footage of the preseason beatdown of UNC too.

Take load management as a lesson for next year, and every year from here on out will be an A. Never peak in November again.

Truly, a very good hire, good job Mr. White. Coach C and her staff really did an outstanding job in creating a new culture and pulling out of this team as much as this team could deliver. The team was in every major game for the majority of those games, and to do it in less than a year while have a child speaks volume. With a highly rank class coming in, and some key spots that will have to be filled in the portal, the Lady Vols will be a team that few programs will want to play. Great job CKC and staff, great job team, and Go Lady Vols.

Gives me faith in humanity.

If I didn’t know better I would have thought this poll would have been much more balanced.

But no, those negas and trolls are a very small minority with big mouths.

I have to grade two different aspects of her coaching. In-game coaching combined with results as one aspect and recruiting as the other.

Game results and in-game coaching = C+

+ Great wins over Uconn and Ohio St.
- The slide over the last part of the SEC season. No one here predicted that they would finish outside of the top 8 in the SEC. Many (most ?) members on this forum insisted that they would finish in the top 4 of the SEC, and that the team would be better as the season wore on.
Some questionable substitutions in games that I think they should have won.
Can they develop a half court offense ?

Recruiting = A+

A top transfer class and a top recruiting class gives her the highest marks possible in that aspect.

I gave her a C because some things wildly exceeded expectations (recruiting, player development, UConn win, Sweet 16) but others were downright awful (2 losses to Vandy, losing to Georgia at home on Senior Day). I am more confident in her ability to adapt and evolve than I was at time of her hire, and I am excited for next season. It was just a mixed bag-- high highs and low lows.

Over 95% appear satisfied. Has a coach ever had a rating this high since Pat?

Perhaps we need a new poll to survey expectations for next season...although it might be good to wait until the roster is more or less finalized.

I agree it would be best to wait. As I recall my feelings heading into last year I was “hoping” for an SEC 10-6. Was very cautious following the OOC due to the SOS. Overall, exceeded my expectations, but wasn’t feeling that way after UGA then Vandy in the SECT. Great finish helped my outlook.

Pretty safe to say the SEC season/tournament were an underperformance and recruiting and the NCAA tournament were an overperformance.

But we were within a few points of having a great SEC season. We have to find a way to seal the deal on some of these close games against the top teams. Hopefully, that will come with experience.
