Ainge has surprised everyone this year including the coaches. He was a big question mark at the beginning of the season. Since we have no opponent this week I thought I would pass my thoughts along on what I believe to be the keys to UT's QB success this year.
First of all, the playcalling is spectacular. Though I am a little upset that UT took their foot off of the gas early against Florida, it is a testament to Cut that UT has been willing to abandon the use of a fullback so early in the season. Can you imagine RS talking CPF into a move like that? No way in a million years would that happen.
Second, I suspect from the number of three step drops that Cut has told Ainge he does not want him to create offense or to be a playmaker. He wants Ainge to drop back and simply deliver the football, and Ainge has responded. I think Ainge simply had too much responsibility last year. Cuts assumption of the responsibility along with Ainge's arm has turned this O into one of the best in the country.
