Ainge has surprised everyone this year including the coaches. He was a big question mark at the beginning of the season. Since we have no opponent this week I thought I would pass my thoughts along on what I believe to be the keys to UT's QB success this year.

First of all, the playcalling is spectacular. Though I am a little upset that UT took their foot off of the gas early against Florida, it is a testament to Cut that UT has been willing to abandon the use of a fullback so early in the season. Can you imagine RS talking CPF into a move like that? No way in a million years would that happen.

Second, I suspect from the number of three step drops that Cut has told Ainge he does not want him to create offense or to be a playmaker. He wants Ainge to drop back and simply deliver the football, and Ainge has responded. I think Ainge simply had too much responsibility last year. Cuts assumption of the responsibility along with Ainge's arm has turned this O into one of the best in the country.

Ainge's mechanics are way better than they were last year. When Ainge drops back now, his steps are much smaller than they were last year. Instead of taking big strides backwards, he's taking smaller quicker steps that are getting him set up quickly.

His understanding of both our offense and the other team's defense has greatly improved too. Minus the UF game, the offensive line has given him all day to find a receiver and just about every time, a receiver has been open.

Also, the team has commented on his leadership skills in a very positive way.

The best part is that Ainge gets to sit down with Cutcliffe and go over the film after a game and Ainge is obviously responding to what he learns in those sessions. He's in the zone right now.

Amazing job by Coach Cut. EA's execution of the game plan has been just about flawless and the O-line's play has just been superb!

I think the biggest change is in Ainge's confidence. Take for example the first td pass. He threw it over basically three uga defenders into the back of the end zone. He doesnt make that pass last year because he never would have thrown it there. He's become fearless, while before he seemed unsure of himself.

Cutcliffe has saved Fulmer's job, IMO. This program was going down the drain and Fulmer didn't know what to do. What's worse, Fulmer was so oblivious to the problems that he never identified the cause -- and that allowed it fester.

Ainge follows Cutty around like a puppy now because he can see how much better everything is with him vs the last regime.

Ainge has said it, Swain said it last week, and Chavis has said it; that Tennessee has new life under Cut and that problems ran deep before.

Not only does this show how great Cutcliffe is - but it also shows how bad Randy Sanders was. I heard Ainge say he didn't even know how to study film. Give me a break - how can a Div 1 powerhouse QB not know how to study film.

I can't believe it took last year for Fulmer to see what was going on and make a change. It should have been made much earlier; however, I guess it worked out for the best since we got Cutcliffe.

There is a definate turn around in the O this year. Last season we only had 21 TDs now we have surpasses that. Ainge didnt have over 1k passing, now hes nearly to two. The team has pretty much the same talant, but now they have the chemistry. Cut is back and stepping up to the plate and making our offense work. He took EA under his wing and gave him confidence in himself and his team. The O line is giving EA all the time he need. Meachem, Swain, and Smith are tearing it up recieving, then on the ground is Hardesty, Coker, and Foster,, we are back,,, we are deep in running and passing, and our defense is the meanest ive seen it in a while. Being in south GA at Georgia Southern, there are more UGA fans then i thought was possible, i didnt think that shallow of a gene pool could produce so many, but seeing that game sat nite shut up the bandwagon GA fans and put them in their place. I just wish Georgia Southern was having as good of luck as the VOLS,,,, GO VOLS!!!!!

AGree wtih that 100%. And i think Cut learned from the UF game too...and it showed in the UGA game especially when you saw him call that pass play from inside the endzone on 3rd and 13...that's a guy that has command of the offense.

as to the fullback thing...i never thought RS had full control...everything went thru CPF from my understanding...and that's just not the case with Cut. and we're better off for it.

Exactly. Cutcliffe saw our problems at QB and everywhere else after watching them practice LAST YEAR. The bunch that was there, including CPF, did not see it. Instead, they talked about how good we were. I call that being delusional.

Cut has definitely changed Ainge for the better in every aspect. His attitude is another plus. In the past couple of years I had heard multiple times that Meach and Swain didn't like Ainge and his attitude... this year I hear the opposite. They get along now, trust each other and obviously work well together.
