I don't have Pearl's current pay in front of me, but off the top of my head it seems that $1 million is a larger % of his pay than four month's salary. If so, he's getting more in the settlement than the assistants.
Is this fair to them, given the role he played in their termination?

Pearl is getting the 1 mil and receives normal paycheck til June. The assistants only get the paycheck.
not true on the Pearl payout
Pearl will be paid at his current salary rate through June 30, 2011. He will also receive $50,000 per month for 12 months, from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, and will also receive health insurance costs. This cumulative figure is $948,728.

I don't know what went on behind the scenes, but it doesn't seem they can all be equally culpable. At any rate, from a financial perspective, I feel much more empathy to the assistant coaches. I assume Pearl can make money on TV or somewhere, but what are they going to do?
And, as Bassmanbruno asked above, exactly what could they have done differently? Seems they were doomed no matter what they did.
