I incline to think of Jones as Butch Football or Coach Football, because he really does appear born to coach football. Think about a man who eats, drinks, breathes, and lives football...and realize that Jones is it. There are others, but Jones is surely such a man. He has reduced the game and his job to a science, believing and living his convictions like a human dynamo. How will his theories, equations, schemes, sales pitches, methods, and personal energies work when they meet bammers, gators, and dawgs? I don't know, but the man now has great resources at his disposal, and like the Terminator, he will not stop.

My impression is that Jones aspires with unbounded determination to become one of the great and dominant coaches in the country, believing that Tennessee is his place to do that.

We have the facilities and he has the right attitude. Only time will tell and it looks like he is going to bring some SWAG back to the real UT so that is a good thing. The first year will be tough, but we have talent and depth so we could sneak up on some people next year.

I agree, we finally hired a football coach on the third try. This was a good hire, and I hope, no scratch that; I finally believe we have a solid coach to replace Fulmer's vacancy. Fulmer left some really big shoes to fill, and my gut tells me, Coach Football will as well :) JMO

Johnny Football > Butch Football as a catch phrase.

I like Coach Jones. If we couldn't get Gruden or Bob Stoops to come then Jones is as good a risk as anyone else. I like his positive attitude, but there were a couple of things he said in his opening presser that makes me wonder if he is just blowing smoke. First, it's hard to believe a person not from this area would consider Tennessee his "dream job." Second, he said he is going to assemble the best staff in America. Now it appears he is mostly going to bring his old staff with him. Did he have the best staff in America at Cincinnati?
