Coach Jones first year 4-8 at Cincy 10-3 second

Here we go again. Let's guess the responses:
Nick Saban lost to Monroe and won NC 2 years later.
UT can get to 10 wins next year.

Incoming freshmen will have to learn fast and make a huge difference for that to happen in the SEC.

2nd year in the same systems should help some but it still won't make up for lack of serious SEC talent and a 2 deep gameday roster that will still be seriously lacking.

Top teams in the country have top starter quality players on a 2 and 3 deep roster so it's going to take us several more years of top recruiting to challenge for a SEC Championship and beyond.

it would of been nice to get to 6-6 this year. next year everybody will turning flips for joy if he gets 6-6 and will consider the season a success. Next year is going to be worse than this year. jmo
there is nothing that gives us hope that its going to better. If you think freshman are going to come in here and win in the SEC as freshman are going to be disappointed.

Utah St worries me a lot but I can still see 6-6 if they would just buy out the Oklahoma game. It is not just freshman in this incoming class. JUCO's Blair, Lambert, Weatherd and Pearson should all be physically mature enough to contribute right away. I don't think we will be worse just for losing the most overrated OL in college football.

Great, now we'll have to fire Butch after next season when he fails to get 10 wins. I don't think Cincy had anywhere near the schedule we will face next year.

Have you read the posts from most of the psychos on here since the Vandy loss.....they are ready for Butch's head after one season....regardless of the fact we lost Worley right when the passing game began to gel and lost Bray, CP, JH, and Rivera (ALL OUR OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION FROM LAST SEASON) to the NFL. You just can't replace that level of offensive talent with freshmen :no::no:

I like Butch. He'll get it done. I wish we had beat Vandy and been competitive in the blowouts but "it is what it is". I'd rather be a UT fan than any other fan.

Got obliterated by Dooley in said 10-3 season. Two MAC titles and two mythical Big East "championships" (if they won then how did Cincinnati not make the BCS?) are meaningless.

And he's your coach for at least 2 more years. Get over it.

There was a 3 way tie in the Big East in 2011 among West Virginia, Cincinnati and Louisville. West Virginia got the nod to the BCS because they were ranked higher in the BCS formula. West Virginia was very good that year and beat Clemson 70-33 in their bowl. They had beaten Cincy 24-21 in the regular season. It wasn't the SEC but clearly Cincy did improve between year 1 and year 2 and it is not accurate to say that Jones did that with Brian Kelly's players. That was a very young defense we played that September which got better as the season progressed.

I remember this same argument 3 years ago lol. "Just look at how much better Dooley did his 2nd year at LT"

No doubt, but something crazy will have to happen for us to get 10 wins

IS recruiting good players crazy? Is getting depth at critical positions crazy? Is getting a QB consistent game reps with talent crazy?
Nevermind...we suck, we will suck next year right?

Why are all of these comparison threads out here? Just a few years ago most of you guys were comparing. Dooley to Saban since he was a deciple and his first year to Sabans!

This team needs a bit more time before we get to that level. I think year three we can be competitive. Coming in from high school and being ready, truly ready for SEC ball is something that isn't that common. Usually starting that many freshmen and/or walkons shows what sad shape a program is in.

He took a team that was 12-1 the previous year, retained alot of Kelly's players, minus Pike at QB,and went 4-8

At most, he should have maintained status quo.

Tubberville is currently 9-2 with Jones' old team

Where is the drop off?

At least you can say that he's maintained status quo here
