If you're gonna have cancer, prostate is the kind to have. Dad just went through that and received excellent care at Vandy.

Good luck to Hal.

Might sound harsh, but there is some truth to it. Prostate cancer is one of the least life-threatening kinds of cancer. Usually it's very slow-growing and very treatable.

My grandfather had prostate cancer and they elected not to treat it because, at his age, the feeling was that he would pass of natural causes long before the cancer ever posed a threat. They were correct.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I don't wish cancer upon anyone. It's a terrible, wasting disease that kills all our loved ones. My dad has had 3 cancer surgeries in 3 years, so I am not being callous. My comments were not intended to be harsh.

I was only observing that prostate has a very, very, very high survival rate when compared with other forms of cancer and when caught early.

if its caught early enough like stated above theres a good prognosis. if it's caught like in my uncles case its pretty bad to watch someone go through. he passed away about a week before christmas in 2006.

The after effects of colon cancer can be some of the worst, especially if the person chooses radiation.
