Coach Urban Meyer's New Contract

In other news, he's still an egocentric tool. I wish nothing but failure for them in the next 6 years and beyond.

He had 4 years left on his old contract. Why do you think an additional 2 years locks him up for UF?

PS: I don’t care if he stays or goes. I think that he is a quality coach but wonder how much credit should go to superman.

There are never any guarantees when it comes to college football head coaches but I think it is a strong indicator that he sticks around.

These days contract extensions are nothing more than glorified recruiting tools, but if it helps you sleep at night, by all means, have a tall glass of that koolaid.

Contracts are meaningless. Corch Meyers is a d-bag, but he's smart enough to tell his employer he's not going anywhere until a better deal is done.

The real question, is how much is Corch Meyer's buy-out? That'll tell you all you need to know.

You are so right LexVol- I bet right after signing the contract he took the next private plane to South Bend and is secretly touring the facilities right now.

You try to get some sleep tonight knowing Meyer signed that fat contract.

I agree that contracts don't necessarily mean anything anymore. Buyouts happen all the time. We will see what Meyer does after Tebow is gone.

Yes, but he is our d-bag.

Looks like Notre Dame is going to have to ante up to pay Urbies buy-out.

He got a 2 year extension. Why do you think it locks him up? What is the buy-out?

We gave Fulmer an extension at the end of 2007. I guess that means he will be here for awhile.

florida is just doing urban a favor. they are bumping the price up for when notre dame lures him away.

he's gone to notre dame after this season and everyone knows it.

if not this year, then next year.

if not next year, the year after that.

if not the year after that, five years from now.

if not five years from now, ten years from now.

if not in this life, in his next one.

but, eventually it will happen.

Fulmer got a "window dressing" extension and raise right after the 07 regular season....but hey...if this contract extension fuels your need for Jergens and some kleenex, who am I to spoil the party?

I was under the impression that there is a clause in his contract that if he wants to go to Notre Dame there will be no buy out? could be wrong though.

No; he is going to hang around UF and retire there ala Joe Pa and Bowden. Isn’t that the trend in college coaching; hang around 1 school until you retire?
