I find it more remarkable that we have had such great succes even with Scotty and Tobias leaving, I can't imagine how good this team could have been with a rotation of Tobias, Maymon and Stokes down low

Imagine if this was Coach Martin's 2nd year instead of 1st. The team wouldn't have to take half the season to get his system down. We would have 5-6 losses.

has already proven hes a great, better than good, recruiter. People tend to not understand how unlikely it was that stokes show up on UT's campus.

I would've liked to have seen what he could've done with someone like Josh Bone who was a good perimeter defender on his own. Under Martin's guidance, he would've been even more of a lock down type of guy.

Bone would have been perfect in Coach Zo's system.

That would be sick.. I'd trade Tobias for a good ball handling pg though.. A good pg paired with our bigs would be nasty.. Not bashing Golden, but he could use some help.. It's obviously not his natural position.

I seriously laughed out loud at 6am at my desk at work reading this. Skeletor at the 4 is perfect.

Seriously? He's proven to be a great recruiter based on ONE recruit? A recruit that was previously committed to the school under the old coach and had a LOT of reasons to want to be here?

I love 'Zo so far, and I think he's proven he's a great coach, but the jury is still out on his recruiting. I'm hoping he is the total package. We'll find out over the next couple years.

Jarnell completely ruled us out after Bruce was fired, Coach Zo called him several times and Jarnell didn't answer. Finally he called and Jarnell accidentally picked up allowing Coach Zo a chance and its been said they talked for a long while and Jarnell really liked him.

Selby not Shelby.

And that was the whole point of the original post. He said could you imagine if Hopson and Harris stayed, so I said could you imagine if all these guys had started.

It was a hypothetical discussion, I'm fully aware those guys are now in the NBA.

Kesling, is that you? Haha...jk.

It was a hypothetical situation. So, hypothetically speaking, those guys could all be here at one time.

In all honesty stokes probably wouldn't be here, but can you imagine this lineup. It was a very real possibility...

Chris jones/Aaron craft
Josh selby/Trae Golden
Scotty Hopson/ Jordan McRae
Tobias Harris/
Jeronne maymon/kenny hall

Bench
Kevin ware
Cameron tatum
Skykar mcbee

Soooo many guards haha. We'd probly have to run a pressing controlled chaos type gameplan

To compare the difficulties of winning in the first year of sec football compared to sec basketball really shows how foolish you are.

Case in point, We may have had as many 4 star upper classmen on our basketball team this year as we did when dooley arrived in football.

A lot of credit has to go to CCM. He brought the team together and it is very evident they fight for each other every minute of every game (at least for the latter half of the season). CCM is obviously a very intelligent basketball coach and he brings all the intangibles you want in a coach.

I completely agree with this sentiment. CCM has proven that he is a good, maybe even a very good, basketball coach but the recruiting is, for me, still in the wait and see category. Jarnell Stokes was a huge pick-up and I give a lot of credit to him for gaining a lot of ground and convincing him to come across the state. However, the Stoke situation was unique and, out of his first class, I am only slightly excited about Yemi and Josh Richardson and the rest of the class seems to be pretty marginal. I was willing to chalk the lack of success in the first class up to the pending NCAA issues and his short turn around time but this recent class, aside from Stokes, of Reese and Edwards is not very thrilling to me. I believe that the 2013 class will be really telling for CCM because he will have had some time. Thus, I just am not convinced that he is as good of a recruiter as I think he is a coach. Even good coaches need good players to be successful.
