Did anyone mention how long Richt has been Head Coach vs Fulmer?

In 1998!
I hope all here realizes it is now 2006!
I know UT or any other school will win it every year.
BUT we really haven't been that close to even winning the SEC since.

In case some here don't get it, it's all about what have you done recently!

Yes, but we played for it in 2001 and 2004 and lost to good LSU and Auburn teams. The way the conference is divided right now the primary goal of the coaches should be putting together a team that matches-up well with our division foes and perrenial out-of-division rival (Bama). After that, worry about matching up with the rest of the conference. You can't get to Atlanta if you don't win your division first.

So, according to the "Fulmer is a bad coach" crowd Joe Paterno was one of the best coachs in college football for decades; then he apparently forgot how to coach and was horrible for a few seasons; and then this last season he miraculously figured out how to coach again and took Penn State back to the top. Fulmer has been at UT for going on 2 decades and has had 1 bad season. If you are the type of person that wants to discount 15 seasons of winning because of 1 bad season then thats your decision. Its ridiculous and illogical, but go ahead. Plenty of people on here are illogical so that opinion is very prevelant on this website. Fulmer did not win the amount of games that he did in his first 15 years without knowing how to coach, and he did not forget how to coach in the last 2 years. Did he slack off, possibly and I would even say probably? But, is that a sign that he cant coach, no. He shoudl regain his focus after last season.

posting a picture of beating a dead horse everytime someone makes a post criticizing Fulmer is getting as frustating to everyone who arent satisfied with Fulmer, as the apologists are frustrated with people criticizing Fulmer.

At least the people criticizing Fulmer have something to add to the discussion but whats the point of adding an icon of someone beating a dead horse or banging their head against the wall? After you have posted that half a dozen times in a half a dozen threads do you thinks is it really necessary to make 50 or more posts of it?

Most people who aren't new to the board, know most of the apologists position on criticizing Fulmer, but do we really need to see the dead horse icon or head banging icon in every thread just because you dont like the thread?

The apologists arguements are UT won an nc in 98, shouldn't criticize your coach on a volboard, winning %.

But the critics arguements IMO are much more detailed and stronger. Fulmer's winning % of .710 since 98 vs Majors .750 and Battles .725 over their last 7 years. Fulmers 2-6 postseason record since 98. No SEC championships since 98.

Show me an effective counterpoint to that arguement. But icons of a dead horse just shows me how lame the apologists are. They have no real merits to defend their position so they resort to icons, why accusing the critics of being what they are, lemmings who have nothing meaningful to add.

If your primary arguement to defend Fulmer is not to criticize your coach on a volboard, I assume this time last year you were trying to save Buzz Peterson's job. Do you still think that was a good move?

So let me get this straight. If we disagree with you about CPF and actually think a coach that has won SEC titles and a NC and has kept us in the Top 25 all but 1 out of 14 years is a good coach, that makes us aplogists?
I would say that those who don't think he is a good coach are not rational.

Guess who Paterno hired as his OC, Galen Hall, who played quarterback for him 40 years ago. Yeah the same one that coached @ Florida in the 80's. Hall was a head coach in NFL Europe prior to Paterno hiring him. Think about this, how many coaches has Paterno hired, fired, encouraged to move on for professional advancement ect. The answer is dozens. Paterno has been successful because he holds people accountable on and off the field, players and coaches a like. Bryant was the same way. Do you really think Fulmer falls in this category?

ok back the dead horse wagon up, this is the first time I have used this icon, secondly not some of the arguments but all are restatements of the previously discussed points, and I never said you couldn't criticize anything , I'm just tired of all it, the season Blowed, we all agree. Fulmer is going to be the head coach next yr agreed? So all of this crap is pointless, if Fulmer doesn't turn things around I'll be right there beside you calling for his head, but in my humble opinion (I'm entitled to one too you know and I don't have to quote statistics to validate it for anyone) Fulmer has done enough for this program to deserve a chance to fix things, and I could care less about what Battle or Majors did or didn't do, I'm concerned with what Fulmer is going to do next yr and we sheep will support him next yr, hope your veiw from behind the herd is ok.

From what I can tell in reading the posts a lot of the "sheep" are not so much Fulmer idolizers. It seems that many of them just accept the fact the Fulmer will be the coach for the '06 season and they do not see anything productive in riding him down since we are stuck with him for at least another season whether we like it or not. There is some wisdom in that line of thinking, however, it can be fun to keep up the anti-Fulmer rant so I see the appeal of the other side of the debate. Now that the BCS NC game, and therefore the college football season, is officially over I am ready to let go of the disappointment of 2005 and hope for something better this year.

GO VOLS!! and pass the kool-aid.

the majority opinion or the herd opinion is the apologist position, its not the critic position. every vn mod on this board has a pro-fulmer position.

Give me a break!? Don't continually post a negative opinion all the while calling people names who disagree with you . . . and then complain about the Mods. As much as I disagree with about 90% of what you post, I can't remember a single time where your opinion has been oppressed.
