I have a question, and I know there are a few threads out there about the date but I have not saw this addressed. With Gruden being our #1 and since he has no on going ties with a school (bowl game, etc) his announcement could be from now until whenever, but with some of these big name guys like Gundy, Patterson, Stoops, Fisher, Mora, when will we know if they are interested or have accepted the offer? Will they wait till after their bowl games in late Dec. or early Jan.?

If I had to take a guess on when a new coach will be announced, I'd say it'll probably be around the weekend of the SEC championship game.

So next week as an uneducated guess.

My PREDICTION is Dec. 12th.

Hart has to give the illusion that these other candidates have at least a shot and not make it look like Gruden was hired/talked to way before. It's kind of funny that none of these "candidates" are current NFL coaches. NCAA gets over quicker than NFL. An NFL guy would come into play in January.

Jim Mora Jr - He knows the biz. He will use it as leverage for UCLA.

Jimbo Fisher - They just want to talk about FSU and buddy talk.

Stoops - This will at least ease up the TN fans when rumors start toheat up that Gruden is not in play. Seriously..his name wasn't mentioned early on. Only when people think it's over w/ Gruden.

As much as we would like to have a new coach in place by now, Hart probably wanted to keep things close to the vest until the season concluded. I don't know who the next coach will be, but I'm not surprised by the lack of an announcement, given that the season just ended less than 24 hours ago.

If we hire a current college coach, I would expect them to leave their current school for UT after their last regular season game and skip their bowl if it's not a BCS bowl. That's what usually happens. If it's a BCS bowl, and Stoops, Fisher, and Strong could all be in one, then I've seen it go either way. RichRod left before WVU's Orange Bowl. Urban Meyer coached Utah's Fiesta Bowl. Brian Kelly left before Cincinnati's Sugar Bowl. Urban's actually the only example I can think of right now who stayed through his team's BCS bowl game. So, if it's a college coach, we'll probably have our guy in December.

I got to admit the rumor he has contacted UT through back channels intrigues me. Homerun?

At least a 2 run homer if not a 3. Don't know that I can say it's a Grand Slam. He seems to be on the fantasy list right after Chucky.

Who said Gruden is the 100% sure 1st choice? The media? Our board insiders? Noone has any clue who Dave Hart's #1 choice is. If Hart did not agree to the demands Gruden requires just to talk to him, then he could have been eliminated weeks ago.
