At UAB that is. Watson Brown will move back to AD and Pat Sullivan will be the new head coach.

I think Sullivan was looking at another job. If he left, WB might have been out completely. I think it was the only way he could stay at UAB (my speculation). Official announcement this afternoon.

The football program hit a low this year after gaining some momentum of the last few years.

The same BOT that is paying Shula $4 million to leave and reportedly writing a blank check for the new coach doesn't quite have the same attitude about UAB :hmm:

Yep, when the BOT is primarily made up of alums from the Capstone including one Paul Bryant Jr., there's not a lot of interest in having a competitive team in Birmingham

Since when did UAB even get a football team? That's the first I've heard about it. I only knew about their basketball team.

I understand that stadium is falling into disrepair as well....

Legion Field is a disaster. The facilities on campus are poor but there's no money coming to help.

Compare that to a program like USF where they built it right and 10 years or so after entering D1, they're in a BCS conference and getting some big wins (Louisville last year, WVU this year).

Does B-ham Southern also play at Legion? You'd think the city would do something with it. Maybe demolish it if it's that bad.

That figures since come hell or high water you guys won't schedule them.

In the 7 seasons starting with 2000, UAB has had a better record than Bama 3 times. And the 2 teams were very similar in 2001 with both teams having 5 losses.

UAB Record Notables
1998 4-7 (Alabama was 7-5)
1999 5-6 beat #18 E.Carolina (Bama was 10-3)
2000 7-4 beat LSU (Bama was 3-8)
2001 6-5 (Bama was 7-5)
2002 5-7 (Bama was 10-3)
2003 5-7 (Bama was 4-9)
2004 7-5 Bowl Participant (Bama was 6-6)
2005 5-6 beat #25 UTEP (Bama was 10-2)
2006 3-9 current 6-game losing streak (Bama was 6-6)

That is just silly.. Since they play the same teams this is such a great point.....

Also what was your record in 2005 I forget?

See how dumb it is to bring this up? There not even in the same class as an SEC team.

Isn't it interesting that those two new Head Coaches both played quarterback for Florida. I wouldn't have thought in my wildest dream that Bammer Bubbas would have to admit that there are no Bammer Bubbas out there capable of coaching Bammer.

Actually there are two things wrong here....#1 KYVOLFAN Sullivan was the Heisman Trophy winner at AUBURN UNIVERSITY. #2 Coach Pat Sullivan pulled the ol' switcheroo!!!!! He accepted the head coaching job at SAMFORD. Guess he was tired of being under Watson Brown.

Well my goodness, I live in Birmingham and had to verify that BSU had a football team.

I checked, and I don't think they play at Legion (no BSU games on the calendar from Legion's website).

I just heard this about Pat Sullivan. Maybe now, Watson will be out completely.

One name that had popped up for coach is Rick Neuheisel (sp?). I'd be good with that! Maybe he'd let me in on his NCAA office pool :p

Apparently BSU does not start play until Fall 2007. Joey Jones, former Bama player, is the head coach. No schedule is up on their website yet but I have a feeling that Aubie and Bama are already lined up to schedule some in-state rivalry games with the Panthers. BSC has begun clearing land for an on-campus football stadium to be built in phases:

al.com: Everything Alabama

I think this is pretty cool. Go Panthers!

Who would ever have imagined that one could learn more about college football in Alabama on a Vol site than something in state....
