I see some stuff in the CN thread that needs discussing, but don't want to clog it up. Since some of it gets pasted from other sites, I thought it would be interesting to add a thread just for comments. Cut and paste from CN thread and comment here.

Sticky if worthwhile...

Hubbs:

Through our investigative work today, we believe that Dave Hart and Jon Gilbert (Hart's 1st Lieutenant) are interviewing a candidate today. That candidate would appear to be Charlie Strong, Al Golden, or Larry Fedora. All three coaches are done with their regular season.

Hart and Gilbert were seen heading into a private jet service building earlier this afternoon. It's unclear if an interview is being done in Knoxville or if the two flew out to do the interview. In the past, Tennessee has done interviews in those buildings. Tennessee interviewed Jeff Lebo for the basketball job in that building when they hired Buzz Peterson.

Hubbs and "investigative work" make me laugh a little. Hubbs is in a tough spot. He runs TOS and is an employee of the Vol Network. He has to tow the line of the ADept.

Some of his stuff regarding the denial of the Gruden negotiations was ridiculous.

It also appears that the product of his investigative work was debunked in the Fedora info regarding visiting NC high schools.

I could live with that...

There are plenty of other coaches who are absolutely great: Gary Andersen, Larry Fedora, the guy at NIU, Darrel Hazell, and others. I just want a winner!

My one true fear is we get Fisher because of Hart's ties to FL state.

Hell we won our NC against FL state I love em for all the wrong reasons in a coaching search. Plus I like NC state as an ACC team and even they've owned FL state in recent years. The same NC State Dooley beat.

I would take Swinney all day long

Good recruiter but after their blowout to WV I don't need another HC that knows how to let teams roll points on them.

Swinney and Fisher are great recruiters but with all that talent they still can't close the damn door to the rest of the ACC. Honestly it's pathetic.

Seconded, same post I made. Great recruiters bad coaches and not half as lucky as Les.

Time to move on folks...

There will be no afternoon press
conference today for a new football coach at the University of
Tennessee, nor was Jon Gruden ever presented with
any contract or financial details to become the Volunteers' next
football coach. So say sources extremely close to UT's search for Derek Dooley's replacement.

Some half-dozen sources have told VolQuest.com this morning that Gruden both declined an offer to meet with UT officials, most notably vice chancellor and director of athletics Dave Hart, this week and that neither side ever got to a point where a financial framework was outlined.

"We reached out to coach Gruden. Coach Gruden after visiting with his family informed us that it was not a move his family wanted to make at this time. He declined to
meet with Tennessee. Financial considerations were never discussed," said a University source Friday morning.

The news comes on the heels of a report in Friday's editions of the Chattanooga Times Free Press that alleged
Gruden was mulling over an offer and could decide on his own timeframe, a report labeled "irresponsible" by someone familiar with proceedings.
Per Hubbs.

I agree on the BS, this is just a save face quote from both sides.

Wow. Im really kinda neutral here. He has no defense and his offense does not work against good ones. Nah, pass.

We should put a dumbass symbol kind of like the mods have for every idiot that posts in the cliff notes thread.
